Why is it when i try to send money as a gift - i still get charged fees?

I hate the fact that we, the general public get shafted by all and sundry! Ebay, paypal, Microsoft, Labour, Tories, government, councils, taxman, and anybody else who has us by the balls.

Rant over - any answers bout the paypal fees??

are you sure your clicking on the "personal" tab and then selecting gift?

Paypal doesnt automatically select gift as the way of payment.

yeah - clicking on personal tab, then selecting gift, then it gives me the amount i pay and the amount that the receiver gets.

Dunno, i'll try it again next time i send some cash to someone.

Send some to me, 100 quid will do for now, i'll let you know how it goes and if it don't work again, we can try something else, but best keep it at 100 quid a time to make working things out easier.

Cheers

smithy, waiting paitently for some cash :-)

Ok mate - but a hundred quid for your car seems a bit cheap, tell you what lets make it 2 hundred then i wont feel so guilty.

I think it depends on how much you've got in your paypal account. If you have enough to cover the payment you don't get charged, if you don't and they use your credit/debit card you get charged.

Gift just means that you pay the fee's instead of the standard way of the person your sending it too paying the fee's !

Not all the time no. I think its to do with the amount you want to send as a gift.

Or its just as a lottery :lol:

sorry, yes I was wrong. Had a bit of a google and it seems that its only free providing your sending payment from your PayPal balance.

If it has to take funds from a card then it charges fee.

There is also no Buyer/seller protection available (ie. You can not make any disputes) if sending payment as a Gift.

Amazingly there appears to be no information on the PayPal site about the Gift option.
