Heading out in the daily driver today I noticed a strange rattling noise. Pulling into a layby and checking under the car fully expecting to find a loose heat shield or similar. I found this!

Last time I saw a tyre in that state, it was a remould. I'll let you off for not appearing today - I think that's a valid excuse.:laugh:

Its just over a year old, about 6mm tread still on it. Think there must be a worn suspension bush as the wear at the inner edge is really strange.

There was a thread on here not too long ago showing some research and news stories or magazine articles, that some tyres had been sitting on the shelves for 5 or 10 years and then being sold as new as they had never been used.

There was a bit about how you can check when the tyre was manufactured, as its was the last 2 numbers in one of the codes on the tyres.

It might have been Jeff who posted it, but maybe that might account for the shocking state of that tyre after such a small amount of use. Lucky you got home safe to be honest.
