Just happened today, after a court ruling stating their admission policy was racist (No shit sherlock) they where forced into a vote to amend the policy.

 

Today they voted to allow anyone to join as long as they agree with the party's policy on keeping Britain fundamentally British.

 

Will be interesting to see how this develops, as they clearly think that they can manage this from within, with strong policies etc....

Not sure why the BNP is described as far-right, they're actually far-left. The left-right spectrum has two conflicting components: social and economic, the more influential component being economic. Because you could perceivably have all the social freedom in the world, but if you don't have economic freedom, social freedom does not exist (for money shapes the available choices in society). Therefore left is economic fascism and the right is economic freedom. This is probably the only sense you can derive from this dichotomy, otherwise its useless.

 

Therefore the BNP are far-left because they do not believe in economic freedom: as a nationalist party they believe in a big state, the default status-quo position that a big state knows how to spend your money better than you do. If you read their economic policy, they are heavily protectionist, with the desire to further centralise spending authority. Thus they are cut from exactly the same cloth as LibLabCon: authoritarianism; with a different blend of fringe social issues.

 

The major issue they champion, immigration, is a big problem when you have a welfare free-for-all backed by a national-insurance-ponzi scheme; exactly what we have. The BNPs solution is to isolate, not liberate; a popular theme for governments who believe they know better than you do.

EU control is virtually causing a communist state across europe, year on year less and less freedom, no identity, no soverignty , political parties enforced by EU law can not represent the people to there best needs. If a political party advocates non EU membership, non EU rule, non EU currency, non EU law, then to me thats a start to more sovriegn indentity freedom. Lab/Con/Lib will in the end fook it all up with going along with the EU machine/gravy train, the long process of reversing this has started, all be it slowly, eventually with minor political parties like the BNP, EDF,UKIP increasing there membership/votes then main stream parties HAVE to change otherwise they will one day wake up and its too late, history over time has shown this time and time again, Hitler in the early thirtys with the Nazi party, when they had no more than a 100 members new this, it was just a question of time, the German political main stream parties let there people down big time, they closed there eyes to the suffering, no bloody wonder people turned to the Nazi Party,they had no hope before hand, so what comes around goes around, "Hitler" A Warning From History (great book and series) shows this in a spectacular way. Far Right and Extreme Right will grow, year on year,an di s so all across europe(Northern Italy a good example) if you loose the faith/trust of the people ,watch out. I for one will never now vote for Lab/Con/Lib but i may/ will vote for EDF/BNP/UKIP becouse for me i feel at least my voice will be heard , a protest yes, but in the bigger picture it may/has to be done.

Still though, theres another to consider in your list TonyC: Libertarian Party UK (LPUK), the fundamental principles of which are Liberty. Anyone familiar with the US Republican Texas congressman and '08 presidential contender Ron Paul might be pleased with some of the policies this party is proposing: an end to income tax and stealth taxes, devolving tax power to local government, breaking state monopolies on health and "educashun", an end to corporate welfare and market distorting subsidies, an end to prohibitions, prohibitions on working, prohibitions on firearms, prohibitions on drugs etc, exiting the supra-national EU by repealing the European Communities Act, and so on.

 

More over they're not isolationist, they want to set the British economy free from the crushing burden of the state to compete with countries who have gained the upper hand in competitiveness. They've got my vote, but there only a small party :( Liberty ain't that popular in this country as it should be.
