Quick one on changing from series 1 to series 2 PTU i understand that you need the harness for the series 2 but is it just a case of cutting the series one harness off and crimping the series 2 harness in?

1 end of the new series 2 harness plugs into the series 1 haarness and the other end in to the new PTU, no cuting/splicing etc, simply plug in and you can't get it wrong. total time should be 10mins including fitting on cam covers.

ive taken the plunge and gone for a brand new series 2 ptu upgrade kit from czp which i was very happy with the price. 200 dollars delivered to the UK now as long as customs are nice it will be a great bargin i expect to pay VAT on it anyway which wont be too much.

You don't have to cut and solder, as Smithy says just plug n play, but......

Consider that your car isnt new (which it isnt) so neither are the old connections that are currently connected to the old PTU. So they arnt going to make the best of contact with the new plug!

Either way, if you want to solder info is here >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=128599&highlight=solder

I was looking at soldering if i was getting a second hand series 2 ptu but as im getting the new conversion kit i will just clean the plugs up and check them for continuity. Wasnt really happy with the idea of soldering so many wires together it creates another weak point imo

I paid £50 for my PTU from american ebay :) Including pnp, and no import tax

Your not selling your new series 2 PTU now are you fella?
