The forum has been compromised by hackers.

 

I have no option but to shut down UKCougar for the foreseeable future.

 

At around 18:00 the site suffered a DDOS attack

 

The hackers have inserted code into the file system of the server that your browsers download in the background without you noticing. Modern Anti Virus programs (AVG, Norton, Macaffe etc ) will remove these without any problem to yourself but as a precaution please delete all cookies and temp internet files from every browser you use to access the site.

 

One of the more damaging scripts they have entered is a harvesting script. This is targeting the database to aquire log in details. Our database is secured by salted MD5 which prevents this type of harvesting but as a precaution please change your password to other sites if you use one password for all forums.

 

I do not know why we have been targeted but we have. The damage is destructive and is going to take a long time to repair and install clean files back to the server. Also I will have to submit a request to google to remove the block on the site.

 

You will all soon see a forbidden notice on the server as I will locking it out while work is happening. I will keep you up to date via email. Members who have my personal contact details please do not call me unless urgent as my phone normally goes into meltdown when things are not working.
