Andy Wilman has hinted that TG has run it's course and the spark has gone from the series.

Now I am the biggest TG fan around and at the moment it is the ONLY TV programme I watch on a regular basis (Albeit the usual short run)

However I do agree with some of his comments. The presenters do seem to have turned into a cartoon character of themselves and the same jokes are being touted each week.

This may be car nut sacrilege but i think it's time to call it a day on the current format of TG. I don't want it to turn into something that was once good but is now just awful. (It still is good)

I think the current format needs more than a refresh. What we need is a brand new format, a different show completely, no more Top Gear

When the show was launched it was nothing like the old series. It's time to the same again

I totally argee Tango!

I also think May and Hammond have took too much on with other programmes and projects and dont give the full attention to top gear. Saying that, its the producers that give them crap scripts, so we cant blame them for getting there feet warm somewhere else!

Have you noticed 5th gear are taking the same/similar format to top gear too?

I really hope top gear doesn`t go altogether, but they do need to change.

Daz

South america saved it for me really, it was one of the best shows they have done

however, they need to cut out the fake crap, "woops your car is on fire" "sorry i hit you"

sure set the cars on fire, but make it more pranky than scripted :)

I could not disagree more, I think Top Gear is Fantastic and the format is perfect. I love that they do not take it seriously and it is the best hour of TV in a week full of soaps and reality shite.

I sit here trembling at the thought of it becoming the bag of shite that is 5th Gear.

It also won the best TV show of the Decade recently and eight million people watch it each week, the franchise is sold all over the world making the BBC MUCHO ££££££. so I cant see them messing with it to much.

AND QUITE RIGHT TOO

Top Gear I salute you:duffer::cool::laugh:

i love it. yes its false and scripted but its fun, if 11-12million people watch the s**t thats called eastenders and corrie i dont see what peoples problem with this show is. everyone bitching its gone stale in 2 years time those same people are going to wish it was still on, because apart from MUTV and sky sports this is the only programme i watch

My wifes brother knows a few of the people that work at top gear and its a possibility, but they are trying to come up with some thing fresh for the program so i hear.

I cant see it myself, the BBC make too much dosh out of it.

They most certainly do but this last series has been a bit 'flakey', sort of lacking in ideas and I used to be an avid watcher of TG and always ensured I was sat down comfortably before it came on, that is not the case now, I have only seen a couple of them and mates are all saying how crap it is. Obviously the viewing figures will begin to fall and then the saleability will diminsh and it will end up like the previous TG..........dull. All three of the team I think are brilliant, but the show now lacks bite.

Its still much better than Fifth Gear, and they also make sheds of dosh from the live tour.

Top Gear is deffo the best TV out there, but I have to admit I am getting a little bored of the format. It's almost inconceivable but perhaps they need to spend more time reviewing 'normal' cars - I remember how enjoyable Clarkson made the review of the green Fiesta (even before the beach landing and the zebra's head in the boot), and the other one with Ross Kemp in the boot. perhaps they should do more 'sensible' reviews of normal cars to make the show more informative and not just car porn and mucking about. (when I say sensible, you know what I mean!) What definately appeals to me is JC's jibes at the government/police/etc. over the rediculous things we hear in the media about Global this and Speeding that, and is as much the voice of common sense as he is a car reviewer/clown! Long Live Top Gear.

Apparently viewing figures have dropped to around 5million recently

I love topgear, but this recent series has gone a bit stale and most people seem to feel the same.

I did enjoy the south America special.....but again, not as good as previous specials.

To stand up for the show they did have a lot of problems making this series, it was very rushed to get it ready and it shows. So long as they take their time with the next series i think it'll be back on form.

The twingo episode was pure genius from start to end and the special this weekend was pretty good but that was the reason the rest of the series suffered.

The scripted jokes are wearing a bit thin but i think they've had a good wrist slapping for it now so hopefully all sorted for next season.

Still the only thing i watch religiously on tv any more and everyone's allowed a crap series - look at blackadder 1! :D
