You aint ever seen brake dust this caked on b4....

Ok this is seriously screwed up....

how the hell did it get this hard and near impossible to get off......

im not joking this stuff is like a thin layer of hard paint, it only comes off if you scrape it....

ive tried autoglym wheel cleaner and its not made a blind bit of difference.

heres the story, i cleaned the wheels last week and they were kinda clean apart from a few dust particles on the wheels which i thought id get too later, i didnt polish the wheels after or anything, so i go for a drive to essex and back and they are caked in dust again so i thought ah il do it later, big mistake, im not sure if its the salt on the roads or something but the dust is solid, normally it really loose and easy to remove but nope this is proper stuck on there....

what do i do? i havent tried an acid cleaner yet, just worried its bad for a lacquered wheel?!?! any tips?

you can see here under the mess the laquar is still good phew.... it took about 20mins just to get that patch cleaned....

Fookin hell!! thats bad!! I use wonder wheels, only when really dirty(Halfords) but it is an acid cleaner, but i rekon it would do the job, could fook the laquer up thou mate?

Daz.

Could have been some sort of tar from the road, maybe freshly laid. As to cleaning, a bit of good ol' elbow grease matey!!! LOL.

al.

lay off the racing matey, corsa's are no competition anyway lol :D

Tooth brush and a good wheel cleaner though.

if it is some sort of tar, try the Autoglym stuff doe removing tar spots from paintwork

Id use TFR (traffic film remover) as used by professional car washers, i bought some off a mate of mine to do my van and the car wheels, it works a treat.

It has to be diluted though, dont put strong acid cleaner on neat, or you will affect the laquer.

Basically spray it on the wheels, leave for a few minutes and jet or hose off, no elbow work required. HTH

wonder wheels is an acid based cleaner so wont work on bare metal as it will corrode the hell outa it,.... my wheels are lacquered so its safe to use but wow it was hard work......

I had some Z dust covers that got nicked, just stick to the standard ones now, never been touched. I actually caught the little fat kid who did it, but what can you do.:2guns::no::hang:

Thanks Kim :D

now you need to get yaself one.......

might be worth laying on a couple coats of decent wheel wax before they end up like that again!

i use Autoglym Alloy wheel seal, amazing stuff normally most brake dust just comes off with the hose but any stubborn bits just wipe away with a sponge!

A little secret... from a female solicitor, you do not have to have a front number plate for road use but only for mot purposes, i don't know how true this is but apparently she took it to court and won !

There is some stuff think it called rim stock, should top the dust sticking.

I just wax them up seams to do the job well.

dont think so mate? you must have front number plate, it just dosent matter of its location, as long as its forward facing and visable. can be on your dash legally!

Had some too at one point, went to a BBQ/Meet at Mac's and the local kids nicked them off most of the zeds there :2guns:
