hi, i've just decided to keep my z32 but fix it up, got a set of yellow stuff pads all round going in soon and new vented disks,

but at the mo my Z's hand brake is hardly working, its tightened to max and is stupidly high, thank god for the park setting on the gearbox...lol

its a 2+2 import TT

the 2 +2 does the hand brake come off the caliper or have a separate drum? and is it just a case of a new cable or is there more too it? the back axles getting stripped anyway to lock out the hicas and fit the new brakes so want to fix this at the same time.

sorry for the stupid question but i have the manual but cant seem to get a definitive answer...

The handbrake shoes are behind the discs on both rear wheels. You can get access to them by removing the brake calipers, and taking the discs off.

Its a separate drum. Make sure the cables are properly slack before adjusting the shoes. There is a rubber bung in each drum to get at the adjuster. Check the manual. Possibly be prepared to pull off the discs and rough up the drums with emery to remove glaze and also the shoes.

Then adjust them till binding and yank on handbrake a few times to centre the shoes then back the adjuster off just enough to let them roll free. Only then check the cable adjustment and only adjust if there is a load of slack in the cable. If you tighten the cables and then the drums begin to bind you have gone too far on the cables.
