Hi to everyone. I just bought myself a 1995 nissan 300zx. The odometer reads 95,000. I know that the car was imported some years ago so does anyone know if this is likely to be in miles or kilometres?

Also, which is best oil to use on these cars?

Well does your speedo run in miles or kilometers? If its been converted to run in miles then the mileage is either miles or maybe a mixture of kilometers and then miles once it had been converted.

If its still running in kilometers then it'll be recorded as k's.

HTH :)

when an import comes in do they just put a new face plate over the old speedo to read miles per hour so the milage is untouched and will still remain in kilometers?

Most of the time they whack the converter on the back and either stick a little MPH over where is says KPH on the speedo face or change the face itself. But when it comes to the mileage they don't always knock it back so its all in miles. Sometimes they do that however like mine some have a certain amount recorded in K's and then the rest in Miles.

Mine has an exact record of when it was converted tho so i know exactly what mileage mine has done and no one has had to touch my odometer.

HTH :)

Mine has also been recorded in km's then converted to mls, i have a certificate to deduct (X) amount of miles to get the true reading :)

Me to I've got a certificate to show how may kms it had done prior to be converted

Totally irrelevant anyway, most imports wont have an accurate mileage reading, unless it comes with any history to back it up. I would get the cambelt done as its due at 60k
