Panel under front wipers (between bonnet and screen)

G'day.

I am looking for a reasonably good one of these - pref with the thin cross hatching plastic screen underneath still intact.

The passenger's side panel:

Reason is I am going to repaint it - and the driver's side I've already got and then swop with the tatty, chipped ones on the car.

Thanks, All - Gio

PS - if you have, you might be able to prize some money off me on saturday if you're coming.

I painted mine, it was a royal arse to mask off and would have been much easier off the car - however I did it and the wiper arms with matt black and it transformed the look of the car.

Go for it!

ta m8ey,

yep, after a post or two decided to get replacement, then paint, then swop as the masking is going to be a right PITA.

This way I can also hide my paintwork mistakes and keep painting until I get it right!

Jeff TT (I think) pointed out that the wiper arms can be a bugger to get off but I think, on balance, it has to be easier than 8 copies of the Grauniad, 47 metres of masking tape and a wind blowing up every time I reach for the aerosol (which is exactly what happened when I did the wiper arms. You're right, what a difference. And the paint is still on - which for me and after 4 weeks is a miracle biggrin.gif )

The wiper arms are a swine to remove.I gave up on mine, even after trying a bearing puller on them!

The drivers side vent removes easily for access to the battery, it's the passenger one that's difficult.

That fine ribbing of plastic in the vents seems to crumble to dust as soon as you touch it.It might be better to remove it and replace with a mesh on the underside.

I was going to use Hammerite aerosol black satin finish on mine as this gives a good thick coating in a semi matt finish.

the wiper arms on mine are a piece of piss to take off undo the nut tap with a small hammer and off they come.i've done my wipers twice. dont forget to use self etching primer as an undercoat and this will help stop the black top coat from coming off when blasted with a pressure wash
