About 2 days ago there was an unusual "rattling" noise coming from the engine bay, however before i was able to investigate it has now gone. But the engine has lost its v6 grumble, sounds much higher pitched and like a ford fiesta :headvswal

 

Doesnt seem to be any change in performance. But it is a really really loud and annoying noise. Its like a whinning noise which directly matches the revs of the engine and listening under the bonnet sounds like its coming from the engine block :-S.

 

Any ideas?

Had very similar noise. Turned out to be air con idler pulley. Took some finding. Worth checking anyway. HTH :)

lol i had some friends over today to try and pinpoint the problem, one said its the alternator bearing, and the other said its the air con pulley. Problem is it seems like i have to get under the car to get access to either or remove the radiator :-( (im assuming the aircon pulley is the one which is bottom right when looking front on and the alternator is bottom left?)

Battery light has now come on so it looks like the alternator is fooked either way, only problem is im having trouble locating one?

 

Anyone know where i can get an alternator for a '91 Z32 NA Jap spec quickly? Ive checked ebay etc but no joy (except a z32 that some guy is breaking but he is on holiday until december which is no use).

I am sure someone here breaking one will have one, TT or NA will fit, and if your lucky thats whats grumbling as wel .
