I use Reason, brill bit of software :)

Used to have it Rewired into Cubase SX3 but just upgraded to 5.1 and haven't got round to doing it yet...btw, PM if you want to find out more about 5.1 mate... ;)

Apologies for the hijack!

I agree with Slowhand...it's essential to get a good grounding in playing the acoustic guitar as it'll pay dividends in the long term...HOWEVER...you've got to keep it interesting else you won't want to play at all so having a bash on an electric, making the most God-awful noises known to man, is to be positively encouraged! :D

I'm entirely self-taught (been playing since I was 15) and that has it's good and bad points...I have a very distinctive, angular style, very unlike the "norm" which is great from a song writing point of view as it makes a lot of my stuff a bit different but I've picked up a lot of bad habits and technically I'm not great...for example I do a 5 note run and my fingers fall off! :D

If you're going down the self taught route I'd suggest buying some good DVD guitar tutorials :)

Good advice, but not from pound land please!!!!

My dad has dealt guitars from when i was born! So IMO get yourself a basic Encore or similar acoustic guitar to get started. Not alot of money but it will be playable unlike alot of sh1t out there! Be very wary of the super cheap shat as if the neck angle is wrong (which they often are) it will be almost unplayable. Also the action is almost always terrible which in turn makes it very difficult to play and your fingers will pay the price LOL. Basic Encore's or similar are not exempt from the above things but are far less likely to suffer from them as its a very well known and reputable company. If you would'nt mind a bit of cosmetic damage i could probably get you one for about trade price - a basic Encore acoustic i mean :)

I'll be honest mate you're along good lines IMO, Pacifica's are good guitars for the money.

If you are willing to spend a little over £200 you'll get a fairly decent axe, so you're not gonna get a POS tbh.
