My mates GTO cambelt has snapped tonight!

 

Just wondering if anyone on here has experience with a GTO's and if they know any specialists worth using to drop another engine in.

 

Its a mark 2, 6 speed twin turbo and he lives near Doncaster.

 

I'm assuming its an interference type engine, which means the valves etc will be knackered meaning a 2nd hand engine will be the best way to go.

 

Any thoughts or comments much appreciated....

The general concensus on the GTO forum suggests the engine will of been damaged, here is a link to the GTO forum and a guide how to do the change

Interesting and with photo`s nothing to loose by putting another belt on and spinning it over, in fact the 300zx engine should be damaged when a belt fails but rarely is so maybe the GTO engine can sometimes get away with it too?

As Jeff states,nothing to lose as v6 engines camshafts can settle "off lobe" unlike 4 cylinder engines which will always keep a valve or valves open.so in theory it may have survived.

i kn ow that guy he lives 5 minutes away form my house, plenty of traders on the GTO forum to help you out with, altough you could always use the traders here too.
