One of the first trips i want to arrange for next year is an annual trip to the nurburgring :)

A load of us did this a few years ago and i can honestly say it was one of the best trips i have ever been on :)

Just looking to gauge numbers and dates at the moment and IF we get enough people that want to take this up i will go into it in more details and get prices etc.

Hi there everyone,

Just got back from the ring, sadly not in the 300 but the other halfs Volvo. Got a bit of info which might help with getting this event off the ground.

Firstly the important bit, even at this time of year it was quite busy however they were getting cars onto the track pretty quickly. Laps are priced at 22 euro a go or 75 euro for 4. There's more discount for buying more laps. Cant pay cash for stuff there inc laps, you credit a "Ring-card", its like a debit card.

Petrol prices are more than UK, however thats common throughout Europe. For 95 petrol its 1.35 euro and for 100 petrol its 1.43 euro.

Stayed at a hotel about 20KM from the track, its run by a English woman and her German husband, really cant reccommend it enough. Link is http://www.hotel-wilhelmshoehe.de/en/welcome/welcome.html

If anyone needs more info I'll see what I can do, its only 3ish hours down the road.

Cheers for that Rob, thats the hotel we stayed at in 2006 and yes its very good there, nice big carpark and only 15 mins from the ring :)

Was the ring still open to the public after 5pm or all day

Mike

only just seen this....put me down!!! its only 2 hrs. Rob im in this week!!

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Can we go next week please!!! :hyper: I can`t wait any longer!!!!

That hotel looks great by the way! :D

Have we any news on dates/ etc yet??

DaZ.

Well for fuel monies from what i estimate (Basing off my previous Europe trip figures) for each tank you will get around 400miles (Best we hit was 470) and a tank will cost around 85quid.

So its 1100miles there and back plus say an extra 400miles worth of petrol on the ring (85quid) so you have a total of 1500miles worth of petrol to burn and if you hit 400miles a tank that means you will have 3.75 fill ups for the trip which multiplied by 85quid will hit your pocket with just under 320quid in petrol!

So 320 in petrol plus 120 ferry and 60quid in Hotel fees basically you need around 500quid for the essentials on this trip!

Now if you can beat 400miles to a tank this will be cheaper but its always best to think worse case so you have a few quid left at the end not dry pockets!

Just a little thing to let people know about

Plus Put me on this list too :)

My full under-tray will certainly help me break the 500mile per tank barrier :D :D :D

Hi Munny, Please forgive my interuption on your reply, but where do you get 1100 miles from?? As you are now at UNI and i havent been there, i have probably made a mistake on my earlier calculations!!! below was my estimate a few weeks ago and i got just under 900 miles?? and we now may be getting the boat straight to Rotterdam which will save us another 172 miles, so i reckon we have only just over 700miles of road trip? Have i made a boo-boo??

Hope not :)

DaZ

Below were my earlier calcs ;)

I`ve just done a quick autoroute for time and approx fuel costs for the lads from North west. Approx fuel prices at £1.10 per litre at 18mpg and 25mpg, please correct me if im wrong

Southport-Hull 132miles 2h20min cost £30

Zebrugge- Amsterdam 172miles 2h35min cost £36

Amsterdam- Nurburg 208miles 3h35min cost £40

Nurburg- Bruges 226miles 3h32min cost £45

Bruges- Zebrugge 17miles 20min Cost £5

Hull-Southport 132miles 2h20min Cost £30

Fuel around the Nurburgring OUCH!!!! Could be £100 but who cares??

Hi there gents,

The track was open from 0900 - 1700 on the sunday. Saturday was closed due to a race.

The official website will tell us when the track is open to the public. It does vary from what I can see.

Right, i had a good ol banter with my friend whom has organised 6 Trips with his Forum to the Ring and back. Now bearing in mind its 24Euros a lap and each lap will take 'newbies' to the track around 13minutes that does mean you will be 'hammering' your motor for 13minutes x a few laps so YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE ITS IN TIP TOP SHAPE!!

Also with our Petrol to get there and back plus all the extras every car is looking at around 1000pounds for the trip (1 expensive weekend) (not including the New tyres you WILL need after the trip so can add up to 1400pounds) and the Ring has been described to me buy around 20 different people as 'Imagine going flat out on a B Road you have never done before even after 5/6 laps)

What the guys were all basically saying to me was if you have NEVER done a track day before you will literally sh*t yourself and im sure alot of people havent (I maybe wrong)

They all vouched its an awesome experience and every 'Petrolhead' should do it but they all recommend people have some Track experience before hand!

Best days to go are Track Open Days, less pressure, go in and out when you like and at the Off season tends to be a little quieter.

Just though some guys may need to think about all this before Jumping on the band-wagon! I personally still want to go but evaluating my Pre-Trip Experiences before hand :)

i spoke to a few guys from work, who did this trip in june.

They were taking an 03 plate Focus RS. The owner told me he had:

Complete fluid change

Service (filters, plugs etc)

4 new tyres

Discs and Pads all round

And that amounted to just short of a grand.....before he even put petrol in the car!

This is partially the reason why im rebuilding my suspension, in preparation for this.

Well said Munny :) Just to follow on from what you wrote;

I have done quite a few track days, mostly in my 200sx, and also done a lot of karting and won trophies, and they are FANTASTIC fun,, however I will be taking no risks at all on the Nurburgring, I am not going trying to break any records, I will be just driving for the experience of driving the ring, even if a 1.1 Fiesta passes me, i will just be proud of actually making it there and also the thrill of a road trip with my mates from the 300zx club, I cannot wait!! roll on next year!!!
