Well after what seems like an eternity my contract is up for renewal on the 25th November and i'm having a think what i would like next. The N97 has certainly got me looking long and hard at it and wondered if anybody has any opinions on it? :)

I'm not a fan of glass touch screens tbh but seen as its the way we're heading with phones i might aswell embrace the glass bullsh1t LOL. This seems the best compromise for me as it has a full qwerty keyboard which is a MUST for me

Reading online its split with people, some say its great and others the opposite. I don't expect alot out of a phone if i'm honest, easy texting, email access and internet and i'm happy.

Cheers,

Isaac

And now my phone bills are back up to £400 a month:shock:

And this was the phone i was looking at as you can get skype, amongst other things.

i used to live the n series phone but i now have the blackberry 8900 and love it, dead easy to use, more features than most phones and has possibly the best camera ive seen on a phone :)

steve, on o2 our inclusive minutes classed abroad so my partner used his phone loads when in ibiza and we didnt get any charges ;)

also my business partner loves his iphone 3gs

Yeh i had the original iphone but couldnt get to grips with it.

I also have a HTC touch diamond which is a nightmare and is in my draw at home.

MMMhow would that work with me being in spain i wonder as i could get my Mrs on the same package

What you do is take a package, ours is a medium business package which i think is £44 a month then to add another user its £15 each user who shares your minutes and they you add other services ie blackberry, iphone etc so in total out bills are about £80-90 and i use my phone all the time

with regards to being in spain you would need to see if theres any restrictions on how long your allowed to take the phone abroad? if there no restrictions then your laughing :)

Sounds good mike ill look into that Thanks

Why do you want a phone??, you`ve got no one to ring and no-one wants to call you, cause your a chav! :D

I-phone all the way, but i think it may be a bit complicated for you.

a couple of mates at work have them and they say its a big let down, very buggy software and crashing quite frequently.

Iphone 3GS, I have had one for three months and it has eclipsed all over phones I have had by country miles!

HTC touch HD, one of the best phones I've ever owned, and if you want to upgrade it or put 3rd party software on, your not tied down to a store that you have to pay for everything on. awesome bit of kit, comes with proper blue tooth, mms, GPS receiver (put tomtom 7 on and your set for go with sat nav) yes its a windows based mobile, but im yet to have a problem with it. and i upgraded it to windows 6.5 MP3 player, MWV player, and a number of 3rd party apps (free i might add) that you can use to do pretty much just about anything with. definitely a serious contender to the Iphone, and having played with my mates iPhone, i have to say i prefer the HTC touch HD over it.

Don't get me wrong i like the Iphones interface, its smart and sleek, i just don't like being told what i can and cant do with my own phone, and apple do that quite often. I like the drag and drop functionality of the HTC touch HD and the 3rd party simplicity over the app-store heavy iPhone.

I work in the phone game and wouldnt touch an N97 with a 10 foot barge pole, the amount of problems we have with them is stupid, Nokia have this ethos of lauch the phone now make shed loads of money and then maybe well fix it later, I would go Blackberry or HTC all the way now. I have a Blackberry storm and love it the new version is out this month and will be upgrading to that, the htc hero touch HD are also fantastic phones id look at any of these but nok Nokia. just my 2pence

Iphone all the way, ive had one for a few months now and love it, full qwerty keyboard, full unlimited internet access free of charge on all iphones, free skype apps and plus its an i pod.

I've got an N97, and although there are some irritations, I rather like it.

The biggest single gripe is that some of the keys lack decent feedback, so you have to really pay attention to what you're typing (although given what some people manage to type on this forum using a full 'puter keyboard this shouldn't be an issue ). The other disappointment is the sound quality through the speakers (headphones are fine).

Most of my other issues are software related and given that Nokia are releasing a full version upgrade of the operating system this month, I think it would be unfair to use current problems with the OS as a basis for choosing/not choosing the phone.

Battery life is good - for a smartphone - if you remember to turn off the bluetooth and wifi when you're not using them. I can easily get two days calling, surfing and listening to music.

The camera is probably as good as any out there - with the exception of the 8mega-pixel phones and, to be honest, if you really want to take pictures at that sort of resolution, get a bloody camera!

Build quality is excellent and the action of the slide screen is a joy to play with.

Being a symbian-based phone, there are still more apps available than for the iphone, although they don't look as 'cool'. Nokia are working on an app store to match Apple's, but this doesn't really seem to be taking off yet.

If you do decide to get one, I'd recommend looking at T-Mobile. I love their web'n'walk data plans - I was able to use my phone as a broadband modem for online gaming without worrying about surprise bills :)

I think there are two discussions here and as a phone the iphone is mediocre, poor battery life and an ok camera, but the software and apps eclipse everything else!

I have had an N95 HTC phones and sony ericcson and they are all good, but the iphone has everything and more on the apps store.

It is the first phone I have had gps, email, internet, TV ,MP3, games and a myriad of car related apps, they all work succesfully, and were a doddle to set up, to be honest I have to say it is the best gadget I have ever owned!
