My jap import TT gives a reading of +7 on the turbo gauge. Apparently I shouldn't get full boost unless its been chipped etc.

I have added any mods.. Is this so or how can I check...

Mine has been modded and now the needle smacks on the end stop ! Bear in mind the Jap gauge is calibrated in Kg per sq. metre (or something v. similar), which is close, but not quite the same as the UK spec. lbs per sq. inch.

dont worry mines a jap and it does exactly the same and it aint bin chipped or messed with apart from a few toys here and there

the standard boost guage is really inacurate, have you got a proper one ie (aftermarket)?

the standerd boost guage is really not very accurate, have you got an aftermarket one?

Warren is spot on the Stock Boost guages is about as accurate as my command of the english language, however. if you are really boosting only to 7psi then you have a problem as that is safety boost - Check the ECU for errors... Factory boost is 9psi. the Vaccum system is used to raise the boost from 7 - 9 psi.

But get a accurate guage before you panick the stock guage sux. Check the what level it reads with the ignition in accersories mode. chances are it will not be on Zero.

I think +7 Kg/m sq. is roughly equiv. to 10psi (did work it out once), but as everyone has correctly noted the standard gauge is inaccurate.

Cheers for the responses guys..I think my speedo is inaccurate as well.It usually reads in excess of 100MPH...or it might be my right foot is too heavy...lol

My previous post was a pack of lies. The import boost gauge is calibrated in 100mmHg. However, +7 or 700mmHg does equate to ~13.5 psi, or as near as dammit 1 bar.

The oil pressure gauge is calibrated in kG/cm2. 1 kG/cm2 = 14.2psi

Is that true ?? 7mmHg equates to 13 psi ??

Mine is a jap import with these units on the turbo guage, please say it is not lying to me and I will be Mr Happy in a happy pie shop :)

According to my calculations it's true, but the gauge isn't very accurate.
