Has anyone been to Egypt lately? I have had conflicting advice regards visas. We will only be staying in the Sharm area, and have been told we don't need to buy an entry visa, by a friend. But have been told we will need to buy one at Sharm airport by someone else. Can anyone clarify please.:confused:

When I went five years ago (Luxour Airport) there is a booth you have to que up at and buy a stamp in your passport, then you go through passport control, no problem.

No Stamp though and you're not allowed in! Simple as that.

So you'll soon find out for sure (if they've changed it) when you land.

Yea been to Tunisia and Turkey so don't have a problem dealing with the natives !, just need to get this visa clarified, I know from experience these people will rip you off all day if you let them. So just need to know our rights before I make a stand.

As far as I'm aware it's perfectly legit, and anyway it was only £10 each five years ago, so what's the point in getting bothered over that?

I went to taba heights and having a visa was opotional was told if you dont leave the resort you dont need one .Was also told if you leave the resort take your passport with you.

Went to sharm three years ago, and you did not have to get a visa, but for the cost of one i did get one at the airport.

If you are staying around the Sharm area, no need for one.

If you intend to do a Pyramid or Luxor type tour you will need one.

 

We went last year, travelled around Sharm a fair bit, done the Quads, Glass boat, Diving etc and never had no problems.

you only need a visa if going to tourist sites, if staying in sharm area you don`t need one. I saw that sign in luxor i think it was,good way to get business,ahh love the hustles,they`re so rubbish at it
