Hi

I've installed a glow dial kit in the dash from performance dials, you can just see them below, however the instructions tell me to wire up the live wire from the switch unit to the supply to the dash lights, can anyone who has done this tell me exactly where i splice the live wire into?

Man thanks

Ric

You mean the ones pointing forward through the slots?

Also, Graham, i ended up wiring the pos and neg to those 2 other screws you mentioned, much easier to access

Have you got the item number for those led's on ebay, dont fancy searching through 54,478 items!

Rich

I think I have the white ones you wanted and I prefer the ones you have, only problem is I haven't been able to test them as its a rebuild project. If you want we could do a swap. I'll send them to you if they work send them if not send them back??

Zaris, thats cool, have you got a picture of the whole dial set?

might save a lot of tooing and frooing

So thanks for the offer Zairs, that was really kind of you, but i'm going to have to decline.

Regards

Richard

No worries, I think there a bit OTT too, only got them for the clocks.

Are you gonna do a rides section for your car, looks like its got some goodies on it.

I suppose i should.. i'm waiting for a new tailgate from Plymouth as my rear glass has de laminated and the spoiler has been ripped off (by me), so the back end looks rubbish at the moment. Once that's all been done...watch this space...

Hi Rich, get 4x 5 way blue leds available from ebay, to replace the blown bulbs, it will bring the dials alive and as Dave suggested would light up the needles. Also they will match the blue leds ive sent to you

Cheers

Graham

Graham,, erm no, i'm after EL Glow dials , the LEDs i was asking about are the ones you mentioned above, as i said, i assume you are talking about the bulbs that throw the light forward, see below or are you talking about LEDs behind the dials

Sorry bud the 501's are for behind the dash, they also light up the needles via the plastic diffuser around the dials.

The ones you have pictured you dont need at all and if by any chance yours work, then take them out.

All your leds went off today and ive included a couple for the bumper lights and a load of resistors, i will have to mail you the instructions and anything youre not sure of we can go over on the phone, i will pm you my number

Cheers

Thanks mate, i can however see where you're coming from, in the pics of the dials the needle is not illuminated at all, i'll check tonight to see if that's the case. would those leds do the job or would they screw up the indiglo's

Rich

They will be fine, they do not shine through the indiglow as its too thick for the light to penetrate, but will light up the boost gauge and oil press guage as this is the only passage for the light to pass, but will look cool.

Have a look in my rides, i used to have indiglows with the leds behind and see the effect.

I had this with my White dials, what I did was to dismantle the Oil and Boost gauges and stick black tape to the clear parts that allow the light through! = No extra light on the dials to spoil the effect*

* = I say spoil because the light behind is RED, and I wouldn't be able to see anything if it was flooded with red light as well!!

Good idea:bow:

Good idea:bow:

Can't take credit for it though, if my memory serves me correctly, I think I read it somewhere else before I did mine..... either that or I dreamt it!!

:confused::confused: Now i'm totally confused..

Graham, your lights looked good with the gauge bathed in light, but if you didn't want that, good idea Dave.. so i think i'll put some led's in the dash like Groover and mod it like Daves_Zed suggested...

ps Graham. are those pod gauges the ones that go through a startup routine?

Maybe not Dave, but its members like you that have had a lot of experience and know how over the years of zed ownership that have picked up tips and tricks and useful bits of info, that make life easier for others in the club

Sort of ;) I 'Officially' joined in June 2003, but had been in here before you had to be a member :D

I bought Eliza in December 2003 and have owned her since :duffer:

Oh yeah, and have spent a lot of money on her (not as much as some here though ;) ) and will be doing again
