Had a problem with my iphone 3G 'Pay & Go' for the last few days.

Incoming calls were going straight to voicemail so nobody could call me. Txt's were taking approx. 4-6 hours to come through

Checked with o2.. No reception issues in my area

Took the phone to my local Apple shop in Southampton today to see if they could take a look at it for me and advise anything (like bin it, and buy another).

They booked me in with their techie for 6pm tonight.. "Sorry Sir, it's not fixable" :( The 3G function had malfunctioned :(

6.10pm I walked out of the shop with a brand-new £400 iphone as a free replacement.

No quibbles, nothing, just "sorry about that Sir, we will replace it with a new one immediately"

I've never known service like it

That's fantastic news mate. Not the first story I've heard about their superb customer service. I've found my iPhone an absolute dream to own

I have been using it as my main computer as my laptop has failed yet again!!

I like the whole apple experience so much I am paying a bit extra and buying myself a nice MacBook pro in a weeks time. Lovely price of kit.

I do a fair bit of my pc work on my iPhone, infact I am doing this post on it right now lol.

I am seriously considering an Apple mac for my next home computer. I don't think PC World would come close in after-sales techie support TBH.

Yep I know what you mean. I will either get mine from apple store direct or from john lewis as they price match and give a two year warranty!!

I'm also using my iPhone right now!!!

Yeah Apple have a great Customer Service!!

You have to make a appointment as you said but their service is one the best out there.

I bought an apple power mac 2.3 dual core with 23 cinema display for £2500 about 3 and a bit years ago. Absolutely flawless then it went bang. Took it in and it turned out it was a product recall on the power supply even though it was out of warranty they replaced it. £250 saved!

After that it had an intermittent problem of not starting on the button every time and you had to leave it unplugged for ten minutes before you switched on. Took it back in and they said that because it was something they'd done wrong they repair it free of charge!

A week came and went and i got a phonecall:

"Mr Tandy?"

"Speaking"

"This is Richard, the manager of the apple shop in leicester"

"Oh hi!"

"I've got some terrible news for you but hopefully some good news too"

"Oh crap, really? What's happened"

"Your mac was on the workbench being repaired, all the drives had been taken out and stored in our safe when the air conditioning pipe overhead leaked and flooded your box"

"Oh crap, but my data's safe though?"

"Yes, no need to worry but because of the age of your mac obviously you know that we've moved to intel now right?"

"Yep, i missed the change by a couple of months"

"Well to repair yours is going to be too uneconomical so what we'd like to offer you is a twin processor, 2.4 quad core with 2 gig of ram and a 300gig drive plus of course your drive and apps all reinstalled"

STUNNED SILENCE

"I think i could live with that yes(!)" lol

When i turned up at the shop everyone knew who i was and got me a seat, did i want a coffee while i waited and then lent me a trolley to get it to the car!

F***ing brilliant customer service, best in the industry methinks :D

Oh'Lord!!

Well, I'm really going to put them to the test today lol.

I did the 3.0.1 update via itunes today (as they recommended) (it's an sms vunerability security patch), and the new phone is now doing what my old phone did :( Calls going straight to voicemail, and text's taking hours to come through :(

I've booked an appointment again for today @4.30pm at their in-shop 'Genius Bar'.

I will update you again this evening lol.

Yep.. Using Safari, and browsing 300zx.co.uk

It works perfectly :)

Seeing so Apple has made so much money from the "i" prefixed brands, it would be virtual financial suicide for them not to have top notch support - but it's still very impressive.

Can't wait to get a new iPhone, but I just want to wait and see if the next Android is going to trump it.
