it depends what head unit amps and speakers your running..yes thye sound will be a little better as the elec crossover will BOOST the signal.personally i dont really rate sony equipment as the sound quality is a little harsh and there amps tend to struggle under high load but each to there own...

they'll give you better control by going active before the amp if you have components. You'll have seperate control volume for your mid/tweets if your tweets are right next to your ears and mids on the floor. I was looking for one of these the other day and that's a good price for a well featured active X the kicker one I was lookinga at for £100 only had half the flexibility that that one does. Don't know about sound qual though take a look at reviews on the net as a guide

Not sure if it is the one I have, and it also probably depends on the rest of the set-up, but I always found it better/clearer with it, least till it broke;)
