Thought it would be a good idea to create a wheel&tyre setup thread for peeps to post up their wheel size and tyre size front&rear and include offset (if you know it). This comes in very handy when searching for which tyre size to fit to which size wheel and offset etc. Also helps with the purchase of new wheels so you have an idea of what it might look like. Please feel free to add pics :D

If your new at this and have no idea what im talking bout then heres something to help you lol, tyre size can be found on the wall of the tyre in this format: 245/35/18x8.5-------

245 is width

35 is the profile which is the percentage of the width

18x8.5 is the wheel size in inchs by the wheel width in inchs. so this wheel is 18 inchs tall by 8.5 inches wide.

et20 is how far the wheels sticks out from the hub face the lower the number the further it sticks out.

Il Start

front

235/40/18x9.5 et20 plus 2mm spacer so realistically et18 arch rolled

rear

255/40/18x9.5 et20 arch rolled

I'm after a bit of advice... Im looking at some Rota GTR's which have the following dimensions:

Rear: 255/35/18, et12, 18 x 9.5

Front: 225/35/18, et35, 18 x 8

Looking at other posts it looks like I might be struggling to get the rear tyres under the arches? Currently they're standard arches and the car is lowered by a small amount, maybe 30mm?

As for the fronts well they're going to need some spacing out.

I was hoping to swap my current tyres over as they are 275 rears and 245 fronts.

Are they going to fit??

The fronts would need approximately 20mm spacer to make flush with the arch, although they could rub being lowered, so maybe try 15mm first.

The rears are going to stick out by nearly an inch (over 20mm)....

Those rears wont fit unless you undertake some serious arch mods and some -camber... or you could run a very stretched tyre but it wont look good unless its nicley tucked underneath. my rears are now 9.5 et20 and the wheel sticks out a touch but the tyre tucks in because its slightly stretched.

why dont you buy the rota gtr's in a 8.5 et25 and a 9.5 et 30 they are available on driftworks here: http://www.driftworks.com/catalog/products/rota-gtr-18-wheels.html

I've had some good news, the rears are actually ET30 but they put the wrong number up, well thats what I've been led to believe anyway!

And the fronts are 8.5 :D ideal....

Cheers for the advice, I thought the same that it would stick out by a mile. d'oh!

Jimmy, what offset do I need to run 10.5" x 18" wheels all round (front + rear)??

Is it possible or am I wasting money??

Thanks

you would prob need et32 for the rear which will require arch rolling and a stretched tyre which will look great, you could have a less aggresive offset but im not sure how much room there is on this inside ,the front is another story. i suppose the same offset but youl need some negative camber dialled in and you would need a stretched tyre fitment maybe 235-245 which in a 10.5j will be pretty stretched. you would also need a serious arch rolling session. its very hard to calculate it with just numbers youd have to try a few things trial and error im afraid.

There is a guy on the us forum who has i think 10.5 all round so maybe its worth finding him and sending him a pm. he owns a white na...

Thanks Jimmy, What do you reckon would be the best fitment in 18" or 19" to bring the wheels out to the edge, I'm looking to spend big money on wheels so I can't afford to make mistakes, I'll be getting the rear arches flared out a bit if that helps, at present I'm running on 19" TSW Catalunya's 8.5" front and 9.5" rear, The fronts sit in too far, I'm not sure of the offsets.

Thanks

Take a look at mine, they are on 9.5 all round with slighty stretched tyres. They stick out right to the edge they are on the limit, pretty sure i cant go any further unless i do somemore arch modding. Why dont you go for a 10.5 rear and a 9.5 front? that way youl have a nice fat rear wheel and the front will be pretty chunky too. it will be a hell of a lot of work to get the 10.5 on the fronts.

Ok so, If I was to get a 9.5" front and 10.5" rear in 18"s what offsets would I require mate and what size tires would be needed??

Thanks Jimmy

Its difficult to say as i dont know how low your car is etc, but how about

either

front 235/40/9.5 et20 what im running

front 245/40/9.5 et30 less stretched tyre

also depends which tyre your using as they all look different when stretched.

rear 275/35/10.5 et30-35

rear 285/35/10.5 et40-42 less stretched tyre

rear 295/35-30/10.5 et45 will look unstretched on a 10.5j

all of above will need arch rolling. but they will look good. Im also unsure on how much space on the inside of the wheel you will have from the tyre to the shock etc.....

these are just some options, YOU have to make them work......

Completely missed this thread  I will have to check the wheel tyre size I have and will post back up.

i have some veilside andrew split rims with 9j et+36 fronts and 11j et+36 rears... sitting in my garage. not sure whether to put them on or not. the rears with a stretch will fit perfectly hopefully and fronts may need spacing but you can buy diferent rims for the spokes as they are split rims, so you can basically choose the offset and width.

Yassa, have you located a place that will supply the rims for your Veilside wheels, as when I tried to get new rims for mine I was told they are no longer available.
