One for the Tecchies about Linpus Linux

Hi All,

Just bought an Acer Aspire 1 with built in SIM card capability but I cannot get my Orange mobile broadband to work either by the dongle or by putting the SIM in?. The operating system is Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.21.E.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I rang orange but they are obviously more interested in making sure you are aware of your contractual requirements rather than actually fixing the ****** thing

Sorry, only just seen this.

I've got the aspire one without the built-in SIM card reader, but i can still use my 3 Mobile dongle with no problems, i just needed a dialing program.. I used the Macles connect program as on the Aspire One Downloads page (I believe it covers most of the Huawei Mobile Dongles). Direct download here:

ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_110/linux/application/huawei081126.sh.zip

- Install Guide:

1. Download the file huawei081126.sh.zip to Aspire one directly.

2. Double click huawei081126.sh.zip, and uncompress the zip file via “Xarchiver”, there should be a new folder named “huawei081126.sh” in the same folder with huawei081126.sh.zip.

3. Go to huawei081126.sh folder and double click huawei081126.sh.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

I will add that you will have to put in the Orange APN, username and password into the Connect program for it to work.
