Exactly the same fault as my mate had - believe it or not he found the solution was LOW engine oil!!! have you checked that?

Sorry mate I dont as each ones I have changed have been goosed, you would need one with the same number on it as you have now, I got one for a corsa brand new off ebay for £30 delivered if thats any help bud.

i have a 1.7dti astra with that problem, lights constantly on, unless i brake really hard, then it comes back on when i accelerate (well, it doesnt accelerate, but ya know what i mean. If i go on the motorway and floor it, when the revs get to about 3500 in 5th, the turbo kicks in and its fine until i turn the ignition off, then back to no turbo. Tried oil level, all connectors, had it plugged in to an AA laptop, no joy. Common fault i believe. Let me know how u get on mate.

good luck.

cheers

If in doubt mate, take the bulb out!

Wont stop the sluggishness though! :mac1:

Egr fault usually on astras.Valve stays open so boost from turbo dumps out the exhaust.

I had the egr off mine, it was covered in thick black crap. Cleaned it, free'd it up, put it back on and no difference at all. There is a little valve near the egr with a small vac pipe joining them together, it has an electrical connector on it aswell. thought that could be broke. What you suggest? New egr?

cheers

danny

The solenoid you mentioned actuates the egr valve. They too can play up.To eliminate the egr valve.Where it connects back into the inlet manifold make up a gasket from a piece of coke can so it blocks off the system. Then try it.
