Hello again, just want to say thanks for the advice I got last time on my indicator bulb, works dandy now!

I've just come back from a 1500 mile excursion to Scotland, mostly cruising speeds of 45-80mph, parked up my car no probs, clutch is silent. Start her up today, every time I drop the clutch a loud, low whining grinding sort of noise is coming from under the car. Is this the throw out bearing that is just about to die or can I get away with not sorting it? What are the health implications for me zed if untreated? :nono: It's a N/A 1996, thanks for any help!

Yep sounds like release bearing, normally they will groan for ages, but if it does collapse you wont be able to select any gears.

So the release bearing is knackered; even if it has another 2K left in it, it sounds like crap. My 300 hasn't had a new clutch as far as I know as it's got no service history, but the clutch bites fine in all gears. Seeing as the bearing is a core component of the clutch, d'ya think I should just go to Zworld and get an entire new clutch fitted?

I just don't want to pay to have the entire gearbox out twice; once for just the bearing, then again in 6 months time for a new clutch.

yep i would advise changing the whole clutch kit, dont leave it too late as the clutch can same seem fine then just go at anytime.

Ok nice one guys! I'm gonna get that sorted as I'm cycling to work and it's not nearly as exciting as my 300 :D
