Cleaning out oil cooler.

I'm using my old oil cooler as the new auto gearbox cooler and wondered what to use to clean it out so it does not contaminate the gearbox oil :confused:

    Petrol. Thinners etc. No naked flames etc, but you need to break down the muck inside to ensure you get it all out.

     

    Some say never use an old cooler after a box had issues as you can never clean them properly.

    I was thinking of cellulose thinners but wasn't sure, thanks :D I can let it stand for a few days as it's next weeks job so i should get it clean.

    I flush mine through with thinners first to get rid of the oil. Then drained all that out. Did a final flush then with acetone.
