I have just returned from 12 days in France, I flew to Girona, Spain and drove over the border to the campsite. Anyways her indoors booked the car through Hertz and Easyjet who we flew with. The basic insurance with the car for 12 days had an excess of 600 Euro's, to which via Atlas Direct I took out a policy for excess protection which covers £2k for under £30. When I arrived in Girona on the 28th June when I got the car the guy who done the booking automatically printed out my account with Super Cover insurance added which cost 150 euro's. He circled it and didnt explain fully what it was. So being kinda spaced after my flight off we went on our holiday.

 

Back with the car yesterday asking them to check it, I was told no its ok car is fully insured, which I thought was odd, but ok away I went. My bruv in law flew to Girona 2 days prior to me, exactly the same happened to him, so we tried in the airport with no joy to be told they did explain it.

 

Anyhow I have a complaint away but just a word of warning with Hertz, look at the form they print and look for the super cover being automatically added.

 

The cover I took out was from http://www.atlasdirect.co.uk and its dirt cheap.

 

 

Hopefully this stops these tossers ripping someone else off. Anyone got any links where I can post this to warn them off from Hertz.

The car hire firm automatically charged 150 euro super cover on my account when i had cover arranged for this at a fraction of the price. Normally this is an extra cover and any other time they explain that if u dont have this cover you will be liable for a 600 euro excess.
