difficult to fly? my bro-in-law had one and took ages to learn lol

Only used it once, but ive managed to get it to hover without crashing

No but I want one :) Have you used it yet? The smaller hellicopters always look as though they just spin and spin so would love to find one that you can actually control.

Ive got a 3 channel heli (airwolf :) ) and its not bad to control as long as you trim it right. Problem is apparently (like all helicopters) torque steer and as a pilot your supposed to compensate for it. setting the trim will help alot but things like hovering too low will cause air disturbance from the the helicopter itself. I believe the trick it to get the heli to knee+ height as quickly as possible and compensate for any rotation. hard to do but its fun trying. I am using the heli inside until i get used to the controls and then i will attempt an outside flight.

Great thing about these lama 5's is that they are quite popular so parts are easily available in the event of a crash :)

what extra control do you get between the 3 and 4 channel?

You can bank left and right (or strafe) on a 4 channel system as well as turn left/right, up/down and go forward/backwards.

It is quite smart and very sensitive :)

I want one now!!! lol Would love to find one of an Apache if they're available?

Is Lama the make of the kit or the model components?

There is a 4 channel apache that ive seen. not sure what parts are like for it tho.

I've got the lama 5 with the idea to learn about controlling these things. if i get the hang of it and enjoy it, i will spend more on one and get something more interesting. ;)

just do a search for "lama helicopter" on ebay, google, youtube etc.

I bought myself one of these for Christmas and have really enjoyed learning to control it properly. I'm into piloting anyway (have a number of hours towards my PPL already) and will probably try a real helicopter sometime soon. These Lama 5's are excellent although I've already gone through three sets of batteries (LiPo) - they're not cheap and only last about 10 minutes (flying time).

I have an Apache coming in from USA. 4 Channel.

Hello bud,

Any details on it? I'm contemplating a Bell 222, might go get it over the weekend :)
