I'm seriously tempted by the iPhone, having had the chance to play with one today. Is there anything better out there/coming soon? HTC Magic? Nokia N95? Other? I'm mainly interested in internet capabilities.

Opinions appreciated.

To be honest I stayed away from iPhones to start with but the app store has really taken off and there's a lot of really good stuff for it now.

I do a lot of work setting up different mobiles for business and I don't think they can be beat at the moment.

I've got a HTC Touch HD which is fantastic technically but nothing like as useable as an iPhone.

There are some serious rumours of a new much improved iPhone coming out in July though so might be worth waiting a couple of months ;)

Nokia N97 is out anytime now.

HTC Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 coming soon (out first on T-Mobile contract I think as their Vario models)

Have a look here:

They always have the latest stuff to buy off-contract ahead of the major carriers getting them.

I tend to buy for cash as the phone is not locked to a network and get a cheap SIM only deal with loads of minutes, text and internet for about £25 a month.

When you've finished with it you'll probably get most of your money back for it on eBay if you sell just before the next replacement model comes out.

I recently bought my daughter an iphone 3G 18gb after bending my ear for months wanting one  I liked it so much, I bought myself one on pay as you go o2 (8gb-cheaper).

I can't speak highly enough of the phone. It's great for surfing the net, much quicker than my pc, and free with wi-fi. All touchscreen aswell :)

I think the iphone capabilities make such phones as the N95 etc. look a bit dated.

My only criticism's are the bulkyness of the iphone 3G, the 2G appear slimmer/smaller. Also, no flash on the camera, although nightime pics aren't too bad.. Only 2.0 Megapixel aswell, but daylight pictures are nice and clear. The sound isn't great for listening to music/watching movies.. Abit tinny, and not as loud as some other phones.. Sounds great through headphones though, and speaker dock.

The 'apps' are fantastic, useful and good fun. Alot are free. I love the touchscreen, and screen rotation.

It's the only phone I would personally consider currently, everything in one really. If only they were cheaper to buy :(
