hello,

 

just looking for someone near chelmsford to help me diagnose some faults. This car is really getting to me (not to the point i will get rid of) however it is having me spend 24/7 thinking and worrying about my car.

 

I will throw in some petrol money aswell :-)

May be able to help. Can you bring it over to me near Dunmow ? What are the faults ?

fault 1. Stalling at most corners (starts up first time evertime though) maybe boost leak?

 

Fault 2. car seems to jolt on hard acceleration (can show you when i arrive)

 

Fault 3,

car seems to make a whistling noise when i start to move (even uder very light loads)

 

Fault 4, Car seems to be in safety boost although it appears to spike a bit higher on colder days (would safety boost restrict spikes from happening?) or is this restriction from a boost leak?

 

Fault 5,

There are two pipes/cables that seem to do nothing.... looks like they were originally connected to something else but have been rendered useless and are hanging around.

 

Fault 6,

 

even though the car generally drives well no one can really tell what may be up with it, i don't even know where to start apart from a boost leak test (got to get round to doing) and after having a conZult everything appears fine (except from the cylinder 3 from a balance test - now fixed)

 

i'm sure somethings may be simple but i just cant seem to trace it and no one else seems to think there is a problem because they dont test drive with myself so everything appears normal :-(

 

i can get to dunmow but it may have to be in a week or so as the stalling can be quite dangerous (especially when power steering goes) so might need to wait until i get an afternoon off work so i can take longer (and safer) getting there before dark

Hi mate

 

First one stalling:

 

Does it have dump valves in place or recircs? If yes check the rubber caps they used to block off the pipes, these are prone to failing and cause the car to stall after going onto boost.

 

Also check your IACV is working (do a search)

 

Whistling noise sounds like a boost leak

 

Finally get it up to Zedworld I'll bet it will be running like a dream after a week in Jeffs hands!

Faults 1-5 boost leak symptoms, so do the test and do it now! :)

OK, let me know when you can come over. I don't work at the moment, so most times are possible. I have a boost leak tester and a ConZult.

This might help you mate, easy and cheap to make.

well i can pop round on Thursday afternoon and say hello anyway and if we drive over to Andy's then or weekend . Its up to you too i am available on both so depending on when you both are free i can squeaze in on what you two decide :-)

ok pop round thursday after 3 n i`ll be in, i can check using laptop for faults then have a root around see if we can find the leak. must be a biggie for it to stall. Will call mr p n see when he`s about or he can p.m me either way.
