co 0.612%

hc 82 ppm

Result! PASS.

You just need to be sure that the tester follows the correct procedure. First of all enter the correct year and model on the PC to start the test. then after that it fails to pass the first test on the analiser which it will probably do. Limit is 0.3% co. Thats hard to get without a cat!. Just make sure the tester scrolls down the NISSAN model list.. NO 300ZX found! So enter "other".

That then defaults to a non cat test which allows much higher values to pass (co 3.5% hc 1200ppm.)

Jobs a goodun!

Didnt actually get an overall pass today due to a worn front bottom ball joint:cry: but I have already changed that this afternoon ready for a free re test on Thursday morning.:D

Soooo. Japfest here I come... Slicktops rule!!

Really pleased with my emission results nearly good enough to pass the cat test.

Most of this has already been covered by PaulC back in 2004 but it does take a bit of searching.

Another one to make sure the tester is aware of is Special Notice 5.93 which relates to the amount of free play allowed in the front top multilink arm. :)

Excelent news :)

I had 2 mot's this week. Supra and the vectra and they both went through :hyper:

Just the zx now which will fly through :)

i was told that after 91 or something like that if it didnt have a cat on the car whether it passed emisions or not it would automatically fail? i had to put a cat on my skyline to get them to pass it even though it passed the emisions?

As copied from directgov for all cars....

What does a garage look at during an MOT test?

Exhaust emissions - vehicle meets the requirement for exhaust emission. These vary on the age and fuel type of the vehicle

Exhaust system - complete, secure, without serious leaks and silences effectively

Mot regs dont require cats after 92,just that it passes a cat emission test.Youd be amazed at the amount of testers that dont know the interpretation of mot regs.Had a mate ring the other day because his discovery was failed by a tester who said the new boot floor panel hed put in had to be seam welded and not spot welded.Only patch repairs need to be seam welded.

i work with mot testers and if the car is a 94 or older it has to have a cat by law no matter what the emmissions say. 93 and younger and you dont need a cat

94 and younger i would assume and 93 and older :x:
