I know there is a word for this but I have forgotten it lol.

 

Anyway, on full boost my Z makes a rattling noise from the turbos, it seems to of gotton worse since I have put an aftermarket air filter on my car...

 

What exactly is causing this noise? Is there a remedy? And what will it break first?

well....

if it is detting then you need to stop doing it before you melt a piston.

 

are you running standard boost?

if not,

.....have your got an EBC or boost jets? or both :cry:

.....have you got an uprated ECU? if so what is it?

 

have you got an aftermarket boost gauge? what boost level are you running?

its running 15psi with a mines ecu... thats it

it wont take very long to put a hole in the piston

 

15psi is over the safe limit, your injectors are maxxed out and most possibly running lean, plus the mines ECU can be very aggressive (there are different versions). Are you running it on high octane fuel only ? - V-power..etc

 

Turn your boost down in the meantime (or remove the boost jets if thats how its increased)

 

Some will get away with 15psi on a more mildly tuned ECU with High octane fuel and everything running perfectly....but its always a risk without appropriate mods.

 

Have your timing and Fuel pressure checked asap

the hot weather really isnt helping either, on the track i kept mine at stock boost, just not confident enough to have it running high pressure in this heat, even tho ive done so much...

Yes, I always run it on the higher grade fuel where available. I shall turn the boost down then :-( Cheers guys
