hey , ive got a water leak in my radiatior but the garage told me the radiator is modified so they cant fix it, can anyone help me cuz i dont see how the radiator can be modified

Featured Replies

which garage was that? looks like they opened up your bonnet and thought "no no no i am not going anywhere near that" ^^

ofcourse if it is a specialist then they are being lazy. it's not wider or anything? I have seen a aftermarket radiator however it was still able to be done by teh bog standard mech.

maybe someone else can enlighten the subject ^^

i'll be following your post so i can also learn more :-)

I am not sure what they mean by 'modified' either. You can have a standard radiator or a high capacity type which is slightly wider but they all fit in the same way. It sounds as though the garage was put off by mass under the bonnet as opposed to something being difficult to repair after all once the rad is removed it would normally be taken to a specialist for testing. This would then decide if it can be repaired or recored.

Put up some pics and we can tell you, if its a standard or aftermarket, they are not that hard to sort, once you remove the shroud and fan, it pops out,

Allloy rads are a specalisist job and can be expensive to weld sometimes upto the cost of a replacement .I was qouted £ 300 to repair an ARC alloy rad a little while back.:)
