At the moment I'm using a bog-standard Hotmail email address for all band related stuff ( "thisburningage at hotmail . co . uk" ...apologies for the written "at"...thought it best in case of any spiders crawling the site...I'll take my paranoid head off now! :D ;) ) however, with the album promos and press packs ready to go out and the actual album on the horizon I'm a bit conscious that it looks slightly amateurish.

Something like... "info at thisburningage . com" or "thisburningage at work . com" would be ideal (off the top of my head as I haven't drawn up a list of possibilities yet...I'm open to suggestions! :D).

I'd just need it to direct all the email to the original hotmail account, and for me to be able to send replies with that address (if that's not possible it's no biggie I just thought it would be easier keeping track of everything if it's all in one place)

Is there a free way of doing this at all?

Cheers,

Leigh.

You can do that by buying the Domain name server (DNS) if its not taken and setting up email on it, then you can do, friday@thisburningage.com, info@thisburningage.com etc etc :)

Correct - first, buy the domain if it's available (probably the easiest way is through http://www.123-reg.co.uk). You will then need it hosting (123-reg can do that too, or there are loads of other hosts out there). Basically, this will give your domain a server to live on. Once you have this, you will be able to receive mail to anything@yourdomain.com, and you should also be able to forward all email from your Hotmail account to that address (or addresses) if you want.

Hope this helps matey! Give me a shout if you need any more info.

I think you already have that mate ;) all part of the setup

If all you want is to have a custom email address, I can thoroughly recommend Google Apps for business.

You go ahead and secure your domain, and then follow the instructions to point what you want at the various addresses etc.

Good thing is you can have "info", "sales", or whatever else you want all coming to the same in box.

Very simple to set up and use, and no one can tell its through Google. You can also use Google Docs, Calender, Picasa etc etc through the same account, so probably got everything you need for free.

Just goes to show how embarrassingly lacking my knowledge of all this is!:o

I've already got a domain name which is hosted by a top chap on this site, mtl (hi Matt! :D) so looks like I can get it sorted :D

Cheers for the posts guys and thanks for the PM's Matt, I'm about to reply! :D
