Anyone out there in Zedworld know how to alter the 'richness' on an SU carburettor? My mini is running stupidly lean and I can't remember how to adjust it, any help will be most appreciatedas I am having to drive on choke all the time and it's killing the fuel economy

on the bottom of the carb there is a sealed tube with a nut on the top that you should be able to turn by hand clockwise will richen the mixture{its been years since i last worked on 1}..hope this helps.

Cheers chaps, that rings a bell, doesn't it adjust the height of the needle?

Had SU carbs on a Rover SD1 V8 over 20 years ago, the needles and the needle socket wear and cause all sort of running issues, might be worth replacing them first.

Just run it for 100,000 miles without changing the air filter :D

That should make it run a bit rich :p

also check the damper oil in the su carb top it gets thicker with age and causes the nedle to stick . the needles and jets wear so first thing would be to replace those and the springs run the car for ten minutes wothout choke and then using either a meter or colour tune if you can fine one check the mixture , adjustment for mixture is unde the carb by throttle tube
