I've recently tried to fit a CD Changer to my Rover 220. I have the (OEM) R770 head unit and obtained an OEM (Alpine) changer complete with the full bracket and cable for mounting in the boot.
Once it was all fitted properly I tried it out and got a 'CD Error' message on the display!
To cut a long story short, As it had only cost me 99p + P&P off eBay I wasn't too worried as it had come complete, so I found another one also on eBay and bought that. This one came with the mounting bracket and cable for under the passenger seat.
Firstly I plugged it into the boot location and tried it, this also showed 'CD Error', so I tried it with the new short cable in the front of the car, and it still showed 'CD Error' (I also tried the original changer with the short cable and got the same)
So this time I got hold of another R770 head unit and tried again and still got the same 'CD Error' message
So now I've got;
2 x R770 head units
2 x OEM CD Changers (complete with front and rear brackets)
2 x Cables
And I still get 'CD Error'!!
Am I doing something wrong? Does the changer have to aclimatise (sp?) to the car before it'll work?
Anyone know anything about Rover ICE that can help, will be greatly appreciated, as this is starting to do my head in!
