merc went wrong way past me on motorway last night

was on our way to stop the night in southampton last night when a newish merc(silver or white) went past us the wrong way on the bypass /motorway just coming into southampton last night about 9.30pmish. He wasn't going fast but few mins later loads of cop cars flying past on the other side of the carrigeway in pursuit. Can't find owt on the news pages so presume he got stopped without injuring anyone. Any locals know anything about this?

 

ps he was in the outside lane.

    He was probably following his sat-nav, Sorry to say I've done it, got half way down a slip road and had to pull over as a lorry was coming to me:(
