Oh yes

Kris (many thanks mate) fitted my boost guage and jets this afternoon and wow the car really shifts. Can't beleive its taken two years of ownership to get it sorted but well worth the wait biggrin.gif

Just for anyones info (if your interested lol) here are the readings from my boost guage.

No Jets: 0.64 kgf/square cm = 9.10294 lbf/square inch (PSI)

1.2mm Jets: 0.84 kgf/square cm = 11.947609 lbf/square inch (PSI)

1.0mm Jets: 0.92 kgf/square cm = 13.085476 lbf/square inch (PSI)

Didn't hear any detonation and I am running with a tank of normal unleaded (not for much longer).

Would it be wise to try and push it up to 14psi and go below the 1mm jets or should I be happy as it is? I have a JWT EPROM.

Cheers

Martin

I would play safe and leave it at 13psi for a while, that is quite a significant increase on standard. There are boost spikes to be considered and also the level of boost has been reported to 'creep' upwards sometimes - I can't think of a reason why this might happen though.

Thanks Andy smile.gif I do agree and will leave certainly for the time being. BTW do the figures I quoted sound about right? e.g. size of jets to boost pressure?

Also surely shouldn't I be getting some detting with 95RON fuel? I was quite suprised I didn't.

Paul I only have an HKS intake along with the chip and jets and yes there was a difference between the two, how much tho I couldn't tell you.

I certainly can recommend the upgrade, the sound of the engine and the acceleration is just great biggrin.gif.

Can someone please tell me why my clutch smells of burning after giving her a good blast. This is a brand new AP racing clutch (with OEM pressure plate). I am not too happy if something is wrong with it - which it seems frown.gif

All help appreciated.

Cheers

Oops also forgot wink.gif

What bhp do you think i will be running now. Before I added anything I got a reading from Warrens RR day of 251 at the rear wheels.

I will have to do another and see the difference.

Full spec see here http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/martinfa

Martin, you cant always hear detonation, doesent mean its not happening,as the engine gets pretty loud at higher revs.

My guess is youve given yourself at least 40 bhp (around 300 now?)

Clutch is being nuked lol, what are the ap pressure plate ratings, if i remember they were not really rated much above stock with regards to torque (this will fry your clutch)

Humm really not too happy about this at all.

I spoke to the ginger one telling him my intentions and now I'm getting this. The AP is ment to be good for over 430 foot lbs or whatever it is.

Also the garage who fitted it were aderment (sp) that the flywheel did not need skimming, so could this be the cause?

Can you let me know who I need to have a go at pease lol

Also would an uprated pressure plate sort the problem out before I fvck up a well expensive clutch.

Cheers

Flywheel should always be skimmed if your changing clutch, hell need i remind people of what xoticar did to my Flywheel lol (thats how not to skim a flywheel)

just get the ap part as i think Dunk pricedit up recently and the torque quote was just not up to scratch (just from what ive heard)

How much was the clutch?

all i know is after burning smell comes slipping and then new clutch (been there done that a few times lol)

Thanks Waz, I paid £376 for the AP disk and OEM pressure plate, probably not as expensive as some but I was paying significantly more than the standard Nissan (i presume).

Where do I go from here?

well assuming it is the clutch, then id personally go for one of the Yank brands as, ATC or JWT are your next best bets.

I believe the ATC clutch is very good and not to expensive, at the end of the day how much you are going to end up going to powerwise.

I use a Mcloud Racing clutch and its rated at 550 foot pounds of torque, its a bit harsh to drive aroud town, but does the job.
