A problem has started with my windscreen wipers over the past couple of weeks. They won't turn off no matter what postion the switch is in.

I have read this can be caused by the switch within the motor mechanism that detects the rest postion becoming dislodged. However i'm not sure this applies to mine as the intermittent swith postion no longer works intermittently. It is parked outside and i'm wondering if damp may be causing it?

This is what happens in the various switch postions:

Switch postion - Wipers

Off - Low Speed

Intermittent - Low Speed

Low Speed - Low Speed

High Speed - High Speed

Anybody had this problem? I can only stop them by pulling the fuse

From reading other forums I think it may be related to the wiper amplifier. Apparently it can get water logged. I'll check it tomorrow.

Still interested if anyone else has had the prob though.

I had a problem with my wipers but only on the intermittent and also off. Intermittment didn't work properly. If I switched them off, they could stop anywhere in the wiping cycle. Your's is probably displaying another symtom of the same issue with the switch.

I just changed the wiper motor and everything worked perfectly. Cheap part to pick up second hand and easy to install. Its located under the right hand side (as you would look at the engine bay by standing in front of the car) scuttle panel.
