Thats why my job was so difficult getting fair meets together, we made the effort to come down to Cornwall but very rarely did anyone attend any up this way and it got a bit disheartning, so I just want to see how someone else gets on with the role, because it is very difficult to please everyone

i think with the way the country is at the moment and money getting tight more localised meets is going to be the only way for a while.

Lisa. I have always said that it is a difficult area becuase of the distances involved. Many of us work away from home and have familes to consider so to then spend a whole day travelling up to 300 miles round trip just does not make sense. If we had a rep for each area we could easily have a couple of major meets each year but people are just not going to attend one every month. This does not mean we need REOs for each area - just reps, or sub REOs or whatever someone wishes to term them as. There are at least 10 of us down in Cornwall and we regularly meet up but most just can't spare the time to make it a whole day event. At the moment we are having to consider arranging meets by text just so we don't piss others off. This really is no way to run a club and there has to be a better way of making things work.

dan you dont need a little note under your name just to organise meets we all meet up anyway regardless of whats happening ! you are the man

Dan's the Man! Get's my vote! :hyper: Agreed with Shelton tho, it's not as if you can just jump on a motorway to do the 100 or so miles out of cornwall and with most of us it cost's us £50+ a time just to make it out of Cornwall!

Come on people this is quite simple really. If the NEO is reluctant to split the region again then lets just have two sub regions. One of the regions can name their person as the REO but there is a clear understanding that both Devon and Cornwall can operate as a seperate organisation. If Devon and Cornwall reps work together then we can easily arrange a few major meets to suit both areas - this shouldn't be too difficult. Dan, if Lisa has now stepped down, why don't you volunteer for the REO (beleive Cornwall has the biggest following) and seek someone from the Devon area to be your asistant. Clearly we have to try something or next year we are in danger of the whole area colapsing.

Top idea so everyone in Devon and Cornwall can have there own mini meets a bit like what we have been doing, and when the warmer weather comes and it's not so grim we can then all have a mass get together... I.E Camping and BBQ summer time in Shelton's Field!:hyper:

I am not spliting the D & C region, as it is hard enough to find REO's for the region's we already have.

bearing in mind what was said earlier, i am willing to do this as i mentioned in the beginning but would need help from the devon part.

if anyone can......DAN can!!!!!!!!! he the man!!! ...with the black z from japan;-)...lol

My god, a cornishman with pure poetry in his blood. What next?

Cornish (oops - and Devon) clan - please note my user name change. Been told that you should never use your real name on any forum as people can track you back through the net ......and with a name like Shelton guess there can't be many of us around.

Back on to the subject. Well volunteered Dan. I'm sure there must be someone in the Devon area that can assist you. :hyper:

My ex manager was called your name lol...

err....the region has already been split up and you now have what must be the smallest region in the UK and people are calling for it to be split again!

p.s Dan would be a great REO !

Well said Dave, IMO, The Cornish members could put a little more effort with attending meets in Devon, it's not that far, unless you live at Lands end. LOL
DannyZX appreciation socitey anyone?!;)

i dont think this is going anywhere fast, i dont really want to be told i should make more effort, didnt want to make a big deal it just seemed to make sense if cornish members are not travelling the 100 or so miles to meets and back because of financial or personal reasons why cant they meet locally? so before it gets to silly in a dragons den styley I'm out!

Crickey, lets not start this again. The only meet suggested in 6 months was in Newquay...during the week. As already stated, most of us work away from home and clearly a mid week event is just a non starter. Plymouth to Newquay - 70+ mile round trip. Hayle/Penzance to Exeter area (where most meets have been) - 260+ round trip. I think most would agree that is quite a considerable distance......especially when it might be one of your few weekends off. We have a reall opportunity to make this work (without having two separate REOs) but for some reason everyone seems hell bent on turning this into a Cornwall V Devon match again. The region is in danger of losing 10+ committed 300zx club members from the Cornwall area if someone doesn't come up with a sensible workable solution. Dan, please volunteer to be the REO and just sort this crap out as clearly the region is now in need of some positive inspirational leadership.

What about Cornwall as its own region and join Devon with Avon, somerset & Gloucester? I understand where the Cornish are coming from, sometimes its not the distance its the time it takes to get down to cornwall, especially in the summer. We often attend the Bristol area meets as its a great blast up the motorway, other than that I am seriously considering stepping back up again just to sort this issue out...

Now that is a very sensible idea from the Cornish perspective. Perhaps you might wish to run this one past Kim as a possible solution before we all start to put our points of view across.
