had this problem on a vauxhall, the scissor frame thingy inside the door was bent and catching creating all kinds of problems

The rollers that hold the window in place are maybe loose or worn.

Had the same problem on my windo, it went down but wouldn't go up, or would go up a little then jsut slowed right down until it go to the top and stopped.

The rollers at the bottom of the window that connect to the X frame were worn and the window lip kept slipping off of them.

Did it seem mechanical or electrical ? If you could hear clunking and it would travel slowly then tis mechanical.

Othewise electrical and is probably the little black box behind the door card called the window regulator.

I had a problem with my window not working and it turned out to be the window regulator. I had thought originally that my problem was with the motor, but it wasn't. The window regulator is a small black rectanguler box located inside the door card. You cant miss it.

Unfortunately I cant advise how to test it without replacing it.
