I've got a new set of Focal VR component speakers for the front doors (yeehaw). Just wondered if anyone had cut a set of tweeters in a front door panel and if so where abouts in the door without hopefully cutting the steel behind.

Cheers

I've got some Alpine component speakers in the sloping part of the door card, just under the window, near where the door joins the dash housing. Greg did a great job of fitting them for me. Measure up, take the card off (mind you don't break the clips), use a hole saw on a drill, connect the wires, seat the tweeters, and Bob is your mother's brother.

is there any chance you could take a pic of exactly where you mean? I cant picture it.

Mike

Sorry that post was aimed at MAC300 about the pic

I fitted mine in the top of the door above the air vent. The tweeters swivel as well so I can angle them towards me:)

thanks all, that looks like a winner. Did it involve cutting any steel or was there enough space behind?

No cutting thru' steel - it's just like a hardboard with a plastic covering.:duffer:

Great stuff. I just wondered if the speakers touched the actual steel of the door but if not then alls good.

Cheers again

i was thinking about this a while back beacause i have a spare set, i also found out that 52mm gauge bezals fit/ seat perfectly and allow them to protrude if you want them too

can you buy tweeterson there own or are the only worth while buying as a package?

You can buy tweeter and crossover separately , but ideally a package would have matching , and includes a Mid speak, Tweeter and Crossover.

If you have an existing speaker its probably a 2 or 3 way in one, which means it already had its own built in tweeter.

Thanks evryone for the replies, where have you hid your crossovers?
