  1. It’s a Club Day weekend here (Sat/Sun July 21st/22nd) at Long Marston Airfield’s Shakespeare County Raceway, Stratford-Upon-Avon and what better way than to get your car or motorcycle club involved in one of the cheapest and best participation sports in all of motor sports - Run What Ya Brung. So let’s hope you’ve brung enough! The weekend of fast performance is combined with the Practical Performance Car Magazine Public Track Day on Saturday 21st July and the 3rd annual For Ladies That Launch competition on Sunday 22nd July. Having discovered the delights of how much fun it is to race up a drag strip team PPC will be at the raceway in force. No doubt there will be a grudge match or two between magazine scribes Will and Kev on the day and who knows, you might even end up in the hallowed pages of one of the best car enthusiasts magazines around. Celebrating 'Women in Motor Sport’, For Ladies That launch supporting UK based charity Refuge – For Women and Children Against Domestic Violence, is an extravaganza of speed open to any female who wants to have a go with her car or motorcycle on Shakey’s famous quarter mile, and if they’re not racing you would be surprised at just how many ladies keep motor sport going as marshals, safety crews, track officials, mechanics and of course racers. So its time we celebrated the Fast Women of UK motor sport. Car and motorcycle clubs are welcome to come along and participate on the track or simply book a club stand to show what your clubs made of. Clubs are also actively encouraged to take part in a full-on head-to-head quarter mile shootout with other club members of their choice. Just give us a call. So that’s two full days of RWYB open to all makes and models of cars and motorcycles gives you the thrill or competitive straight line speed without the fear of getting zapped by a road side camera! The only camera’s point at you will be those taking photos trackside! The only ticket you’ll get is a personal performance print-out registering your reaction time to the green light, 60 ft and overall elapsed time and mph for the quarter mile drag! After all it’s the cheapest form of motor sport in the country. Its fast and its accessible whatever your age or make of vehicle in a safe and legal environment. Both the PPC Magazine day and For Ladies That Launch are part of a complete Public Track Day weekend package of events featuring super fast Jap cars contesting the Pro Street Drag Series, Old Skool Fords and Datsun Z cars through to Junior Dragsters and SuperTwin drag bikes tearing up the quarter mile. There will also be a show and shine area, fair and trade stalls as well as evening entertainment from singer Terrie Jane in Kenny’s Bar. Further information and admission details can be found at http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk or Facebook community pages; For Ladies That Launch and Shakespeare County Raceway. General enquires can be made by calling 01789 720180 or 01789 414119, and don’t forget your crash helmet and drivers licence to race in Run What Ya Brung. See you at the strip!
  2. The summer solstice of Run What Ya Brung drag racing weekends at Stratford Upon Avon’s Shakespeare County Raceway continues in a few days time with the CKC Showdown on Saturday 7th July and Custom Chrome Racing Public Track Day on Sunday 8th July. Both days are open to all makes and models of cars and bikes, and clubs are most welcome. The CKC Showdown is a unique event for Kit Car enthusiasts brought to you by the guys at Complete Kit Car Magazine. The third CKC Showdown attracts a wide range of kit cars from Cobra replicas through to Caterham’s, Westfield’s and the tough Ultima Sports racers. You don’t need to pre-book but you can just turn up on the day, either to run your car or simply to come along and watch the action. Dedicated magazine pit space will be provided on Saturday. CKC will be offering a prize for fastest time of the day for a taxed and registered kit car. The Custom Chrome Racing Cherry Bomb Challenge has been set up by the manufactures of the original Cherry Bomb exhaust system to find out who really has the quickest car and motorcycle on the day. Winners will receive a unique trophy as a memento of the day as well as goodies from Custom Chrome Racing. The CCR Challenge is open to everyone who signs on the day for RWYB. Established with a wealth of exhaust manufacturing technology since the late 1970's, Custom Chrome Racing have developed a new stainless internal silencing structure offering superior exhaust components and providing unsurpassed silencing and performance on the road as well as the drag strip! Drivers contesting the Pro Street Drag Series will be taking to the strip for round 2 of Shakey’s modified and performance Japanese and European series. Also the guys from the Datsun Z Club Drag Challenge will be making several qualifying runs before a bracketed elimination on Sunday afternoon. It’s the ultimate buzz in motor sport! Bracket racing for cash! The Shakespeare County Gamblers series has been running for sometime now and it’s proven pretty popular. You sign up, bung some cash in the pot, chalk the time you reckon you’ll run on the back window, and race. Closest to the chalked time (without going under) is the winner. You don’t need a monster race car to compete - some people take part in their daily drivers - as it’s not necessarily the fastest car that wins, and you can walk off with a good bit of petrol money, a trophy and a bag full of goodies from the race track’s supporters. And it’s fun. And for the purists of nostalgia drag racing, the Wild Bunch will be in town to entertain everyone with there wild looking supercharged Dragsters and methanol injected short wheel base Altereds and Funny Cars. Action with the Wild Bunch is guaranteed with high octane cars covering the quarter mile in as little as nine seconds at 150 plus mph. And for the bikes fans make sure you enter your road bike in the AMC Coating Street Bike Challenge as you may be going home with a special winner’s trophy and vouchers from sponsors AMC Coating as the quickest and fastest rider of the day. All makes and models are welcome to participate. Just sign up on the day. All clubs are welcome to come along and make a weekend of summer sun! Just give us a call. So if you do plan to run your car, it must go through a brief scrutineering process and you will need a helmet in order to run as well as your driving licence! Full details can be found on our web site at http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk along with admission and RWYB Track details. Alternatively give us a call on 01789 720180 or for advance tickets 01789 414119. See you at the strip!

  10. "LADIES - START YOUR ENGINES!!" THE UK's FASTEST WOMEN TAKE TO THE TRACK So you think you're a fast driver- a hellish quick biker? There are quite a few women who can show you what 'FAST' is all about. On Saturday and Sunday 24th & 25th July the 'For Ladies That Launch' will be doing their multi-thousand horsepower thing at Warwickshire’s Shakespeare County Raceway drag strip. In cars that make a Ferrari look like it's standing still, and on bikes that claw the air as they smoke away from the line, these ladies prove that the label 'Woman Driver' stands for the highest level of skill, professionalism and sheer thrills you can ever want to see. Celebrating 'Women in Motor Sport', this extravaganza of speed is open to any female who wants to have a go with her car or motorbike on the famous drag strip at Long Marston Airfield, nr Stratford-Upon-Avon. All ladies are invited take part alongside some of the biggest names in UK drag racing in a proper elimination style drag race on the Sunday. All you will need is a race or road vehicle, your Driving Licence, crash helmet, and a small fee to Sign-On and race in the ‘The Ladies that Launch Shootout’. Liz McCarthy will be taking to the quarter mile as she rockets off the line on her 1,000 plus horsepower Suzuki powered drag bike, and Carolynne Campbell will be there with her insane Rocket Powered Dragster, 'Laffin-Gas', accompanied by a host of very fast ladies from other branches of motor sport that really know how to make the track rock! You'd be surprised at just how many ladies keep motor-sport going, as Marshals, Safety Crew Workers, Track Officials, Mechanics and Racers - it's time we celebrated the Fast Women of UK motor-sport. So we want to see all the girls there not just those who race but the ones who support their teams, make the tea, make sure the boys have packed their crash helmet etc and make it viable for them to race (as most of them can't make it to the front door without help!) and of course those of us who tell them where to go and what to do on the day – as a marshal myself I would like to see as many girl marshals there as possible. On the Saturday evening (weather permitting) we aim to have a photo shoot for all the ladies and, where appropriate, their vehicles followed by live music and dancing till late in the clubhouse So bring your car, bring your bike, or just bring yourself - it's time to LAUNCH LADIES! Shakespeare County Raceway offers on-site catering, free grandstand seating, free camping, showers and toilet facilities and children under 16 get in for free too.
