I have just had my console returned from repair for the ring of three lights and I now have the following problems.

 

I have tried to play COD4 multiplayer and it comes up with downloading game settings and doesn't eem to do anything.

 

GTA4 won't let me play multiplayer, it lets me try but then disconnects immediately and returns to single player.

 

I can not listen to received voice messages and it won't let me send a voice message.

Sounds like you need to clear the cache files from the hdd, not sure off the top of my head how you do that though.

Ive got a spare HDD I can lend you if you want to try formatting it and recovering your gamertag etc. If a fresh format works then you can do it on your drive.

This hasn't resolved my problem though.

I will end up calling customer support.

Are you using a router by any chance?

Yes, I am using a router it is hardwired but never had a problem before the Xbox went for repair.

Check your NAT routing settings for IP forwarding, make sure you're forwarding the xbox live ports to the correct ip address.

And how do I know they are the correct ip addresses they are being forwarded too?

Xbox Customer Support think it may be down to my ISP so I have got to try the Xbox on someone elses internet connection.

your ip address is http://192.168.?.? if you have the book for your router it should say or if you put the model up someone might help. what happens when you run the network test on your xbox

also make sure that the xbox is your original one.......and make sure you dont have any family settings enabled if its a replacement xbox...my sisters lad had the exact same issue with gta and also on voice one all the setting on family were disabled again it worked fine

Weird thing though I can still chat with friends?

Problem solved, set public IP address on router to that of the Xbox and hey presto back on Xbox Live!!!
