Virus help

My anti virus software has spotted a trojan virus in file win32 windows system32 eventclsb.dll. Should I delete it ? and how do I delete it if its open and therefore won't let me delete it ?

Any help appreciated

Thx

You will have to close it down by pressing alt ctrl del. See if you can see it in task manager and end task it. Then delete the virus. If this doesnt work start windows in safe mode or by only starting with mininal programs running using msconfig(type msconfig in run menu on start menu). Then try deleting the virus.

Hope this helps.

ok, thanks for the help.

Is the .DLL file in question OK to delete, or is it an important system file ?

I dont think youl be able to delete it in safty mode or even if the file is not running.

You could try running in safty mode using dos prompt but if you still have no luck getting rid then youl be looking at a total recal. But there are programs which are designed to rid of these dreaded dll virus files found in the windows system folder but youl have to pay for them and they may still not get rid, so best to just try your best and if all fails then you knw what to do.

Is your comp running slow or hesitating at all?

Id back up everything you need over the next few days and look forward to a complete format :D

Can a trojan virus cause problems if left ?

I've noticed no problems with the pc, and performance not affected

by the way that file is important for certian applications but not essential wouldnt reccomend trying to delete it.

If your not experiencing any defects etc then just leave it .

you can buy fixes for this file... google the file eventcls.dll

i noticed your file with problems is eventclsb.dll was the b a miss type?
