I bought a new PC last year that was supposedly gaming spec, had it built. The only problem is it had an AMD x2 chip which created all sorts of problems when playing games so I gave up. I installed all the fixes but the games still froze up. Does anyone know if this has been cured yet? Would love to get some games up and running...

That include games? on what OS? Have you applied the patches etc?

ive run a 4800+ x2 for nearly 2 years now and its never once given grief... sli has given the odd issue but nothing major. i would say there is another fault.

Random crashing and locking up is probably memory related. Could be somthing as simple as the timing settings on your memory (no nothing know it alls are addicted to increasing memory timings beyond what the memory is capable of and being suprised when it crashes.. seen it too many times!)

By patches do you mean operating system patches or game patches? Or what?

It COULD be an issue with the mainboard, if you know what model it is post it up and we can have a look as to if there are any issues. May be a case of updating the bios to add support for a certain peice of hardware you have or resolve stability issues.

going back a year i had my old pc crash for no reason when playing games it was the RAM, do you get any screens come up EG blue screen. i have always updated my pc when one is available put up your pc specs
