Is trying to get into modelling....

They've asked for her to be a feature model for them, so hoping it all branches out from there...

(Theyve used them 3 photos without paying her (at the moment), Anyone know if she should ask them for payment - she doesnt want to risk them removing photos and losing out on exposure)

it does get very tricky with things like this. even though the pics are of your step daughter, they may own the copyright to it. you ideally need professional legal advice on this. its similar to these photo places that do family portraits ect. even though the picture may be of you, you cant go into a photo place and have it copied as they own the copyright.

misunderstanding, She emailed them photos of herself as they asked what she looked like, then they uploaded them. (She had them done by someone else a few months ago)

They have emailed her and asked if its alright to use them - Shes pretty ok with the whole thing as shes getting some exposure but I think she should get paid for it.

That was all.

oh right. lol. well, in that case she could do with the exposure, even if its for free to start with. my neice went onto all this and its not easy to get recognised.

I have a nasty feeling there's plenty of girls wanting to be models.

By all means charge for this upcoming feature but I wouldn't expect to charge for those ones she's already sent in.

If you rock the boat too much they'll just pencil her onto the list of enemies and she'll scupper her chances.

If she's really serious I'd suggest a model agency.

lol, she can fight em off herself - shes nearly a blackbelt in kickboxing :)

think shes gonna discuss future charges with them and hopefully get a contract with them for future shots.

Shes gonna let em have them pics foc.

Your right bout an agency - have to find a good un.

Cheers

As a photographer, my advice for what it's worth: get a good, professional portfolio together. Make a point of going to established model agencies rather than just internet based sites...there are a few scam agencies out there who are just after your money and have no intention of finding you work. If she's after promo work (and by going to a car site that's what I'm guessing she's after?) a good agency will get her job with the right clients. There should always be a model release form: read it, then read it again. If she's not clear on something, ask. If she's not comfortable with the form don't sign.

This is a good site, get her to have a look: http://www.safemodelling.org.uk

Just my 2p's woth, hope she does well. :)
