I'm sorry to have to be the one to break this news but unfortunately Billing Aquadrome have cancelled next weekend due to the weather.

 

The ground is that bad currently, the site organisers are hiring in pumps in an attempt to shift the surface water. However, the weather forecast for the next 10 days is not expected to be any better and therefor they have decided to call it off today. They said they wanted to give the car clubs as much prior notice as possible.

 

Obviously we are devastated, as this was meant to be our main summer event this year. We have spoken to the ZClub and they are still committed to holding their 30th annivessary later on this summer at Billing.

 

It is far too late to try and sort out a bigger pitch at Peterborough, so at the moment, it looks like we'll be rescheduling the event with the ZClub.

 

If anything changes or as soon as we have revised dates, we will post, to give members as much notice as possible.

 

Once again, we sorry for all those members (including me) who have already booked time off work. It's unfortunate but nothing much we can do about the weather and the decision to cancel was purely down to the owners/management at the Aquadrome.

If you can't get your flight money back then there is. Just outside Luton is The Offley bike show. They have camping, live music as well as some great bikes. It is a great weekend. Its not looking at Z's but it is almost as good.

 

If you PM me some details I might even be able to sort out a lift for you.

Maybe we might consider driving over now if the date is reset for a suitable date? It will be off peak too............just to let you know the tent has well paid for itself, kid's are having a great time in it :D

Ah well will have to wait for the rescheduled event and make up for it then. ;)

A few of our members have been across to ZClub site and are asking why their Committee lied about who actually cancelled this event.

 

The ZClub Committee did not lie about any of this.

 

I can confirm that last Thursday my understanding was that the event was cancelled by Billing management. I was incorrect. I received the information from another 300ZX.co.uk committee member and not directly from a ZClub committee member.

 

It was simply a breakdown in communication between the two clubs and I take full responsibility for issuing 300ZX.co.uk members with incorrect information.

 

It was not until the Friday morning, following a conversation with Derek Zulley, that I understood exactly what happened, in terms of the chain of events and the decision process.

 

What I should have done, but didn't, was post on the 300ZX.co.uk board with the correct details. I can only apologise for not doing so. However, as I'm sure you can all appreciate, it has been rather hectic since last Friday.

 

We need to stop bickering and finger pointing and move forward. This decision cannot be reversed and we must all pull together to ensure the re-scheduled event will still be a big success.
