In view of the fact we don't have an REO, Slick Pete and myself were discussing ideas of a temporary midlands meet in derby perhaps at one of the pubs near the race course.

It's a nice pub and i'm sure i've been there before with a big car park.

Pete has the details of the location but if we say the last Sunday in October (29th)?

NOT CONFIRMED** But I may be able to make this, as I'm not working that weekend ;)

As long as we have a post code, or full pub name my sat-nav should find it (my sat-nav shows pubs# I love it)

# I have no idea if other Sat-Navs show pubs as well, so please don't type back "Mine shows pubs as well, they all do" ;)

I'd like to make it over.

It's quite a way for me though - I'm not suggesting you change the location it's just I'm not really in the midlands anyway! Unfortunately there's no group for those of us in East Anglia.

Well the venue isnt " written in stone" we can meet anywhere.

This is a new venue and its not actually Derby.

Its at the Junction of the A50 where the A518 Uttoxeter Road turns off . Its called "The Racecourse" as it quite close to Uttoxeter race course IIRC.

Ive just driven by and I can see large car park and there is a Travel Lodge or similar next door.

I thought that the location would be easy to find and reasonably central for a number of people.

Or we could meet in Ashbourne and have a little convoy first.

Or we can do something entirely different. All Nick and I are proposing is that we carry on the excellent work Chunk and then Ivan have done in organizing meets.

So any other suggestions are welcome.

How about we agree the date first.... then sort the venue???

And since this is towards the west of the Midlands we could have one in November a bit further east and south to suit peeps like Craig David.

Im sure someone will take over the Midlands Organizer roll(but it wont be me, dont panic) :nono: . Until then a little friendly co operation will keep the good momentum we now have ticking along.

Its your club guys n gals as well as mine.

Just speak up ....... ;)

Manta, Boldy, Vinz,Ceejay, Tweaky, Ed,Spinksy,Zulley, Si-Z etc etc?/

Oh Im probably gona mention it on Z Club too. One or two "classic " owners might well come along. Thats not a problem for ya is it???

Feed back time................................................

No problem with me Pete ;)

i think its a great idea Pete and Ivan. as you say, the date is more important than the place - we can agree on that later.

[ps received your parcel safely mate! many thanks]

Okay just had a quick look, most of you are from notts, tim is from peterborough so furthest west so how about melton mowbray?

It's about 19 miles from nottingham (straight down the a606), 35 for me, 34 for tim and i'm sure they have some nice pubs there?

Has anyone been there much and now a good pub with a large car park?

Time wise, what's best for people? Sundays seem to be good for most people although any day is good for me

Melton would be great for me - I think a couple of members live there too. I wasn't trying to get everyone to change the venue just to suit me! But you can if you want.

Where ever and when ever,s fine with me ,I still owe you that drink Pete :D

i dont know :smash:

you mids boys :slap:

So are you coming down for one last outing before you wrap the Marble beast up for the winter?????

300ZX co.uk is a great club with hundreds of decent honest members, and local meets are the very foundation that clubs like this are built on.

Sure there is a bit of falling out now n again but club life just goes on.

Ill be up for this, the road from belper to ashbourne rocks! Derby would be fine tho I'm game.

There is a pub that springs to mind, it's called The Pullman, at Widmerpool, which is just north of Melton on the junction of the A606 and A46. Not sure how busy it gets, but there is a secondary parking area which used to be for railway enthusiasts to watch the test trains running ( I know, as I used to work for the test track ;) )

we could always just go to the bubble

We could... but we're not. :nono:

Ya got that!!! :slap:

The bubbles alright but i'm just thinking it'd be nice to try and get more people out who don't usually bother because the bubble's too far.

Its only about 20ish miles for you too matey.

I only live 7 miles form the bubble inn but if we can get more regulars at the meet it'd be good. I've only ever seen Tim out 3 times in the last year

Ok if I can put my pennyworth in, as you may know I started a new job in September at Normanton Park Hotel on the shores of Rutland Water. I know it is a bit far for some of the people, but we have just started a new venture on Thu and Sun, the hotel is owned by a Chinese couple and we are starting a "Eat as much as you like" Chinese buffet for £13.95 per head (could possibly sort out a discount, all dependent on numbers). The buffet runs on a Thu from 6pm - 10pm and on a Sun 12 midday until 6pm. If you are interested in holding a meet there, let me know and I will see what I can arrange for you.

Cheers

What do you think for November Pete? We were looking around there for a good place to go.

Sounds like a good venue to me and only about 10/15 miles from melton mowbray :D
