Thinking of asking for some when i take the twin tubby up for its new exhaust.

Will i still suffer smoking turbos from lack of back pressure even with sports cats?

Decats will increase performance but I doubt you would notice, so I would reckon sports cats are a waste money because they will not allow the same performance gains as decats!

well just i worry in case the loss of back pressure causes the turbos to smoke and fail :(

I had a custom exhaust done a while back and had considered decat but was concerned about back pressure and damage to the turbo's however I found my cat's were fooked and brittle little bits of burnt platinum so left them be.

However my turbo's went after but I genuinely can't put that down to the cats.

If in doubt don't do, I don't think the performance gains are noticeable!

Sports cat will still dramatically reduce back pressure, and have almost the same effect as decat so if you don't want to decat - don't sports cat either. I have high flow cats and I was told they offer about a 30% higher flow rate over standard cats, whereas a decat offers about 50% better flow.

 

Mind you, I've got no turbos to worry about, just the law :D

Also, decatting will not make your turbos smoke. Turbos over time will leak and start to smoke. Decatting only speeds up the process.
