name a player who wouldn't have gone down after the ref WRONGLY sends off your best player on the pitch. i do admit he went down easily but the ref ruined the game, up to the sending off it was a good game

imagine if that had been an england defender.......me thinks there would of been a riot!!!!.........felt sorry for the ausssies......he just fell over the defenders leg.......

to me when the player went over there were to italian players tackling him mataratsi did go in hard but it looked like he fell over the other players leg i might be wrong i'll have to watch the highlights later. anyway whats with the italian bashing i dont see anyone saying this about the dutch or portugal :rant:

Just an opinion, thats all. Now your going to say that penalty was justified and the ref is not a plunker!! :)

fair enuff....the ref's really have spoiled what was a very good competition....

To be fair alot of the times its the players doing their oscar winning performances, that cause the ref to dish out the cards!!

PMSL, whether flagataxi made contact or not, it doesnt matter, we went in two footed, potential leg breaker. The fact he made no contact is just lucky o nthe aussie's part, the intent was there and he deserved to go. end of.

I have to say the sending off was IMO just a culmination of a tense and hard tackling game, but still an over reaction.

 

The penalty was unjust. If you look the Italian player saw an opperunity and swerved back towards the Aussie and left his leg dragging, that to me needs a sendinf off in its self but then I'm not a ref.

 

I only saw the highlights as I was at work and as much as I hate to say it, it looked all Italy, even with ten men.

i'm not sorry that australia are out but i do feel a bit bad for them about they way it happened. the penalty decision was not really a good one but then again, as a defender you always need to be careful when you go to the ground in the box, especially when you're marking an italian! (no offence to any italians but you have to admit its true)

 

i give all credit to australia for getting as far as they did. i spent a year over there recently and you have to admire their approach to any sport - they go at every game 101% and the whole country really gets behind their boys, not like over here sometimes. on the other hand, they can be totally blind to any faults they may have, it is always fluke/cheating etc on the part of the other team. i've never watched cricket in my life but it was amazing being over there when we won the ashes! and they still haven't got over the rugby world cup - the amount of times i heard "if you guys didn't have wilkinson...." i just replied "well, we did have him and we beat you"

The quality of the game is gone. the fooking Italians, the south Americans the spanish and most other teams are just a bunch of diving pansies and thats how internation football has turned. What chance do the Ref's have. everyone diving its a hard task to seperate a genuine foul to a performed one? So now its becoming a part of the game. How good a player is at shooting, dribbling, passing and falling. :xxx:

having italian parents i have always suported italy but i do admit the diving and play acting has always got to me, we are not the only team that do this only england dont, but thats why i suport man utd because the english game is how football should be played.
